Went to my OB today!!!!

Yesterday morning I awoke with the worst pain in my lower abdomen that I have ever had! After a while it went away and came back last night! I called my OB today and he wanted to see me! He said I have the worst Bladder infection that he has ever seen and that it looks like I have had this for months! How scarry! He was afraid that if I would have waited any longer that we could have had a major problem! (the worst part is Ihave been having pains for months) He said that it is also the reason when I thought I was pregnant that I had and still do get up 16x a night to use the restroom! Well any suggestions on how to keep this from happening agian? This is the second time in my life they have gotten this bad!

lower back pain can come with horrible utis!! Ive had them hurt that bad!! I reallly hope you feel better soon! Thats y so many pregnant women think there in labour( lower back pain and frontal pain) and there actually not because its a uti! Feel better soon hun!! oxox

my sil had a uti so bad that the infection had spread to her bladder and kidneys and she was hospitalized for 3 days and was put on strict bed rest for a week, she was put on some antibiotics and ooops ended up getting preggo while she was on them..lol

Thanks ladies! I am in alot more pain today! My Ob didnt do a urine culture to see if that was all that was going on but did an u/s because his first thought was that I had a Ovarian Cyst (Which I am prone to) but I am not sure what id going on! My lower back is hurting really bad and I dont know what it is! My mom said it sounds like my kidnys. If its not better tomorrow then I cam calling him back!

Drink lots of water and cranberry juice and keep the area clean and dry. When you go to pee, drain out completely. I had UTI and was on two courses of antibiotics.

I agree w/ Nicsmom - cranberry pills are good.  Dont drink cranberry juice as that is loaded w/ sugar and has very little cranberry to benefit you!

UTIs are usually caused by bacteria from the anus getting into the urethra and some people are just more prone to them than others.  A few things to help prevent a UTI are:

1) urinate directly after having sex
2) drink lots of water
3) urinate if you feel the urge too - "holding it in" can increase the likelihood of developing a UTI.

AZO'S work wonders, they are meant for uti's and bladder infections, but my dh had a kidney infection and it help within 3 days! i have takin them for uti's and they do great...just mention them to ur doc. before you decide taking them though.....and pee as much as you can, oh  and another thing that helps.....drink 1 beer, it will flush your kidneys and in turn sends the bad pee straight out ur bladder and yes it does help, i have done it before as well and felt much better (along with taking the azo's) best of luck honey!!!!!!

I absolutely HATE UTI's!

You can get somethin by the brand called AZO from your local pharmacy. They're cranberry pills and work WONDERS!!!!  I noticed a difference within a couple hrs of taking it

You can take cranberry pills also. You might want to just add that to your daily vitamin routine. Feel better!

Do you drinks cokes by any chance? cus i used to and once i got a bladder infection and i didnt listen to the dr about staying away for a bit and it came right bk!! Well i learned my lesson and stopped cold turkey for 30 days and i didnt have it after that! Dunno if that was the reason but maybe a suggestion!!

You poor thing!!!  My OB just called me yesterday to say he called in an antibiotic for me b/c my urine sample showed a UTI.  I didn't even know I had it...the nurse said it was caught REALLY early...so I'm glad.  I know how painful they can be.  :(

Wow- I'm not sure. Do you know what causes bladder infections? Knowing the causes can help prevent it from happening again.

I'm prone to utis and bladder infections. Basically all you can do is make sure you keep the area as clean as possible(do NOT scrub it with soap! lol) and wipe well! lol And the only other thing really is to make sure you pee after you have sex. Thats the major thing. I haven't had one in a few months and I definately think it helps the most that I make sure to pee after sex. Lol my boyfriend even reminds me! :0 Good luck!
