What is going on?!?

I'm a nurse in Labor & Delivery (but don't yet have a baby of my own). My husband and I have been together since 9th grade and are truly soulmates. We can't wait to add a baby to our family! Ok so my husband and I are ttc. I always had super irregular cycles before I got on birth control. I was on birth control for 5 years. Now being off of birth control, still I have extremely irregular cycles, so I never know when I am going to ovulate or when I am going to be getting a visit from AF. I used OPKs for several months. I used them correctly - same time frame each day, did not void or drink for 3-4 hours. I have never gotten a positive OPK - I either got no second line or a second line so faint you could barely see it. My husband and I bd every other day except when I'm bleeding. My last few periods were 5/20, 7/12, 8/9, 8/24, and 9/4. Sometimes they are even more irregular than that, so you can only imagine how difficult ttc is. On 9/16 and 9/17, I felt some cramping and lower abdominal twinges of pain. This was nothing I have ever felt so I thought MAYBE this was ovulation pain (I was hoping). I had stopped using OPKs at this point because I felt like they were a waste of money. So of course my husband and I bd. Then on 9/18 I saw some brown spotting when wiping. I was also beginning to feel a bit nauseated, very fatigued, and dizzy when I stood up too fast. I got my hopes up, thinking it could be implantation. Then on 9/21, the spotting stopped and I began to have bad headaches (something I have also never had a problem with). On 9/22, my breasts began to be tender to the touch. 9/24 I had some cramping around my left hipbone. Today is 9/27 (as of midnight) and I am still feeling very fatigued. My breasts are still tender and my nipples hurt. I've still been having headaches almost every day. I have had 2 negative HPTs - 9/25 and 9/26. I made an appointment with my OBGYN for 10/6. Any opinions on what could be going on if it's not pregnancy? (I apologize for this post being so long)

Thanks a ton for the encouragement and advice. I'm going this Thursday and I can't wait to hear what my doc has to say :) I have heard numerous success stories from clomid users so maybe that's what it will take for me to have my little blessing, too.

Maybe worth a trip to the doctors hun, i had iregular cycles for years and very light periods each month, always thought i had poss polycystic ovaries, my doctor got me an appointment with a  fertility specialist, took a couple of routine tests, 2 courses of clomid to regulate ovulating and i was pregnant with my little girl, after 8 months of tyring for baby number 2, another 2 courses of clomid and now pregnant with baby number 2!
Clomid is def a wonder drug. 2 special little babies after years of trying! Good luck to you darling xx

hi! ok so ive been trying to concieve for five years. i have almost the exact same cycle as you! (and i thought i was the only one)!! ive noticed about 20 to 23 days after the first day of my period i ovulate.
i do also have cysts though, i have had 2 cysts removed but my cycle hasnt changed one bit!

Keep an eye on your cervical mucus. it changes in texture and can help determine the fertile period. It is clear, strechy and slippery when you are most fertile. some people would say its similar to raw egg white.
this is something i didnt know before so i hope this helps.

I'm sorry to hear that, but now would be a good time to go find an acupucturist and get started on regulating your cycle, they will also "rev up" your overies, I had 2 rounds of acupucture to help me concieve my last baby and am going to start again this sat, it really can do wonders and they often urge women who are going thru ivf to do acupucture as well :) hopefully you will have a positive outcome soon :)

Well guys...disappointment has shown its ugly head again. AF showed up today without warning. So all these symptoms I've been experiencing aren't pregnancy after all. Still makes me wonder what they are, since I've never felt them before. *Sigh*...maybe next time :(

you could aslo try acupunture to regulate your cycle, that can work a treat and also vitex can be good for some women to regulate their cycle but you have to be careful when using this and def not use it if you think you maybe pregnant.... you do sound like you could be, heres hoping that you are, best of luck :)

I have an app on my phone sort of like what you are describing, notsopatientlywaiting. It does predict what it thinks my cycles will do, but unfortunately, it is often wrong :(

Ya know, it also doesn't help that my 19 year old sister accidentally got pregnant and is now 17 weeks. Not that I am not super excited for her, cause I am. And I am going to love my new niece like there is no tomorrow. But it is hard seeing her belly grow and she can already feel her baby move. Like I said, I am super excited for her, don't get me wrong. I just wish I could experience that same joy.

Congrats on your precious angel! I have often wondered if I have PCOS. I don't have the facial hair or overweight symptoms but I have noticed a lot more oily skin than usual and some acne. Is the clear blue fertility monitor like a pee stick? I haven't heard of that. I will try anything! Thanks so much for the advice and encouragement. It really helps to hear stories of others struggling to conceive and then finally getting their miracle baby :)

Te clear blue digital fertility monitor is amazing!  No bbt or OPK's needed. It's a bit expensive but truly worth it. In my opinion it sounds like maybe you have PCOS. I have irregular cycles except when on BC and no or faint positive on OPK's but I do not have some of the typical symptoms of PCOS such as facial hair or overweight. Anyway I was finally dx with PCOS and started clomid then added ovadriel injection lastly we did both those plus IUI which was the winning combo. You are doing everything right and pre seed is awesome stuff my fertility dr recommended that and OPK's he said don't bother with btt as it is not always accurate. After 34 months and 1 miscarriage I finally have my baby. She is 8.5 months old now :). Wishing you all the best

Do u have a smart phone? If yes download the my days app. Its very nice. U can mark your period start, end, when u have sex etc. Then it calculates your cycle according to the pattern.

Nicole, I would really love to chart my bbt, and if I continue to have this much trouble conceiving, I will have to find a way to make it work. The reason I have not done that already is because a few nights a week I work nightshift so I don't think I would be able to take it at the same time every day. When I work nights, I sleep from 8am - 4pm and when I am off nights I go to bed around 10-11 pm and sleep until around 8am. Any other tips?

You should also look into charting your bbt if its not too much trouble. It helped me conceive.

Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely hope it's pregnancy :) I haven't tried anything to help regulate it, but I have been taking Fertilaid and my husband has, too. We use pre-seed because we hear it helps the sperm swim better/faster :). If I don't get my good news on the 6th I may definitely start using the Primrose. Thanks again!!

I really couldn't tell you what's been going on. I hope in your case that it truly is pregnancy!
If it is not, then have you tried natural ways to regulate your cycle? After having my son, my cycle was all over the place just like it was when I was ttc  before him. I started using Evening Primrose Oil and it's really helped me regulate my cycle!
Good luck...I hope you get some good news on the 6th! It could just be way early, so you wont get that positive just yet.

Also, none of these symptoms have been anything I've ever felt before. Not before a period or any time in my life.
