When DId You Start Buying Baby Stuff??

Hey Ladies, this is my first baby and am already wanting to go buy things for the baby.  I will be turning 5 months this Saturday, and I am a first time mom. So, for those who have kids or those who already started shopping for baby stuff, what are things that you have bought already??  And what are some things that I should buy now, and what are things that can wait till later??  I haven't bought a single thing yet, because I said when I'm at LEAST 5 months, I want to start buying little things for the baby.  It's like there's so many things on the list, but then there's so many I can't think of any lol.

I was about to ask the same question. The day I found out the sex. BOY!!!!! I went shopping for clothes. I bought three outfits. One that was a present for my hubby as a surprise for him to find out the sex. It said Daddy's Little Helper. Other then that I bought two more outfits summer outfits. Since I am having a june baby. I really really want to by the crib and all but I am really afraid of buying so many things and then loosing him. So I think for the crib I am going to wait until I am 7 months. LOL my hubby says I am crazy that baby is fine and that we will have him in our arms. But after loosing two babies I am really scared of buying stuff then loosing the baby and seeing everything there. I really wish to buy all that stuff. I guess after monday I will feel better and might decided to buy the crib. Monday I have an ultrasound to check the baby's bones and make sure he is doing well. I always say that after an ultrasound but I jsut never take the idea off my head.

LOLOL!!!  I haven't bought a THING!!! I feel bad...I haven't even bought the big things...or the little things lol.  Well good thing I'm still waiting for my tax money...It's gonna go all to that!!! Well it really helped because I know there's so many things that I know I need to buy and I'm like sitting here with a notebook paper and pen, and can't think of a single thing!!! But now, everyone's ideas from little things to the bulky things have definitely helped me out.  I was so surprised there's like a 100 things on the list to buy, the only thing I could think of was diapers, diapers, and more diapers...lol But thank you everybody for your input, it really does help ALOT!!! It's crazy because I'm turning 20 WEEKS tomorrow, and it went by so fast, but then I look at 20 week ahead and I'm like it's so slooooooow...

im 16 weeks and 1 day..and i have bought like the big stuff...we just order the crib set should be here in 3 weeks than i got the craddle and for xmas i got some little things for the baby from my family, im waiting to find out the sex of the baby next week so in the mean time we have painted the nursery i figured to do it pastel colors we chose yellow and orange and than once i know the sex decorate it with boy or girly stuff...plus im having a baby shower in april so me and mu husband went to registered at baby R us for a lot of things!! lol that we can use for girl or boy that way if next time i can use them again..plus we are not planning on telling people what we are having till the day of the baby shower to surprise them..just because i know how my family and friends are they will either buy you pink or blue and egnore you registry totally so we are doing it the smart way!! ahaha lol
But i would suggest you to get a move on because it take a while to get things shippend and than put them together ya know! and like everyone said wipes for sure..diapers i would wait just beacuse the baby tends to get big everyday and you might need the next size up and than youll be stuck with small diapers ya know..just a thought!
But good luck and have fun!

I've bought some sleepers and those little gloves for her hands so she doesn't scratch herself. When I had my so, WalMart was always sold out. I used socks. This time I saw them in pink so I nabbed em up...

I would get all the big stuff now, or things that you know you want and may not get at your baby shower.  I am going shopping as soo as i find out what i am having...i find out on the fourth.  But i would definatly get diapers and wipes you can never have to much of those.  Also anything you do decided to buy save the reciepts for just in case you have to return it.  Its never to early to start buying things. the only reason i haven't started is because i prefer gender specific things, and if i have a girl then i wont need as much stuff as i would need if i was having a boy.  the only problem is that some of the girl stuff i wont be able to use because i am due in June and my first daughter was born in decemeber.

hehehehe....i wanted to go on a shopping spree. the day i found out i went and bought 2 onesies 1 blue..1 pink and left my husband open it....he kinda looked at me like i was crazy and then he got excited.....i had a lot of brand new stuff given to me because my mom, sister, and sister in law had kids within 11 to 6 months from mine so it was kinda easy for me...if u don't wanna wait then you can get some yellow's that can be boy or girl and then when u find out u can go stir crazy...LOL

Best of luck!!

I am 10 weeks and we already bought the crib , car seat and matching stroller and changetable/dresser.....We found everything on clearance or sale at Walmart though....and we had bought everything but the changetable/dresser when we started TTC.....I also bought a few outfits on an off season sale rack for as cheap as 94cents for some sleepers.....I want a swing , bouncer , rocking chair and ottoman , highchair and all the other bigger items , but I have a large family and each person has picked a gift for the baby shower , along with my inlaws send $$ for a few gifts and such.....I find it better to get the basic nursery things so you can at least set that up and have it ready and the other things will all fall into place.

Yeah.............I would wait on getting a lot of the smaller stuff that you might get at your shower:)  I didn't think about that!

Also for newborn diapers I found Pampers swaddlers to be the best--they are sooooo very soft.

Ah, well, I would wait to buy some things for two reasons: 1). BABY SHOWER and 2). until you know GENDER!

Some things you can buy now would be diapers, wipes, nursery paint/decor, carseat/stroller, nursery furniture (crib, changing table, dresser).

I bought diapers every time we got paid or went to Walmart (I recommend going there because they'll take returns if baby doesn't use all the smaller diapers, unopened, of course).

I bought 2-3 packs newborn, 6 packs size 1, 6-8 packs size 2, 8 packs size 3. Baby's bottoms grow fast! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pampers Sensitive wipes. They are cloth-like, smell good, and hypo-allergenic.

Don't worry about buying clothes because everyone you know will buy clothes. I would mainly focus on the nursery furniture and diapers!

There's also a list in the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" organization book...They have them at Walmart....You just check stuff off as you get it.

I read several books and put together a pretty comprehensive list wiht my son.  I will try to post it.  It shows the number needed and the item.  It's been awhile since I looked at this, but I don't see sleep sacks (I loved them), stain remover spray (you will need this), baby laundry soap.  I ended up buying diapers before my son was born for whatever brand I had a coupon for - a WASTE of time.  I found out that my son fit better in pampers than huggies so I ended up taking all the huggies back and getting pampers.  You may want to get a few brands and try them.  I have a friend that loves huggies so each to their own.

I started buying stuff at 4 months.  I takes some time to get stuff ordered, delivered, and put together.  And as the months go on you will get less and less sleep so I would try to do as much now while you still have energy!

Good luck - hope my list helps.

OK...so I had started buying stuff when we started TTC!  (We're currently trying again due to a M/C)....but I'm a loon!  I already have an Eddie Bauer highchair, Boppy swing, changing table pad, TONS of wipes and diapers, onesie's, monitor, carseat...you name it......So I say GO FOR IT!  My friends all think I'm nuts by the way!  Oh yeah, I didn't buy the big stuff until I got a BFP though......LOL!

I think it is never too early to start getting things. I already have a ton of hand me downs from family that had babies within the last year. As for buying things, it is never to early to start buying diapers and wipes. I didn't realize how fast you actually go through them until I had my daughter.

LOL  I don't think you're crazy, but I really don't see a red X either.................sorry!

I started buying things with my first pregnancy as soon as I knew it was going to be a boy:)  If I were you I would slowly start stocking up on diapers and wipes because you can never get enough of those!  Also these can be kind of expensive, but believe me you will want a swing.  Swings can be a complete God send let me tell you:)  I also think you need one of those light weight vibrating seats that have a belt............babies love those!  My son also loved those activity centers you can buy where you lay them on their back and it has cool toys dangling above them.  It's very stimulating for them.  That is all I can think of right now.  I hope that helps!!!
