Wondering.....?

Had my ultrasound and found out i'm 6 weeks three days.. Very confused now.. they were wondering about twins because of my rapidly growing hCG. He only saw one sac he said he saw what looked like a fetal pole it was very hard to see anything.. i'm just confused i don't think i had an ultrasound this early with my other two.. anyways.. you could see a black dot (the sac) then small white blotches he said one looked like the fetal pole then there were two other dots relatively close together.. he said it could either be two babies or the baby and a yolk sac but they were about the same size. I have to come back in two weeks.. he said if it was twins they usually don't stay close together they usually seperate.. i'm just so confused.. then he told me he thinks he could see the heart beat then said maybe thats your heartbeat! Ugh.. can anyone shed some light?!

That is what i thought. That is what's confusing me... If the fetal pole in the baby why would there be two other dots? I know its early and my best bet is to just wait but the doctor who did my ultrasound was the doctor who told me both my girls were boys... lol so he didn't give me any answers!! The best way I can describe the ultra sound picture would be a straight faced smiley face. two dots above a larger like line that he said was the fetal pole!! i wish i could upload pictures but since i'm using my phone its difficult!

The yolk sac is the first thing you see before the fetal pole(which is the baby) develops. The yolk sac provides the nourishment for the baby.it looks like a big O.

I didn't even see the heartbeat until 6w3d with my first pregnancy and thats even with having an ultrasound at 5w6d and not seeing it. Also, the yoke sack and the baby are about the same size at this point. Best thing to do is wait it out a week or 2 and get another ultrasound, but it sounds like everything is ok so far to me.

I am like you and am growing my 3rd baby and I never had an u/s before like 15-20 weeks. I have pics on my page of my baby at 6w5d and it was really hard for me to tell what was what. I hope that everything goes well for you!

I know I will sound dumb asking this because you would think i'd know seeing as this is my third pregnancy but what exactly is the fetal pole? In the Ultrasound What you could see was like i said three Things.. one below two Dots that was bigger than anything else which he said he assumed was the fetal pole Then two other dots. Above what he said was the fetal pole. thank you for the comments!! it is much appreciated!

I think it's also way too early to tell.  I had an ultrasound done a little over 7 weeks and the yolk sac was about the same size as the baby but round with a hole in the middle.  I know waiting the next two weeks is going to be so hard.  Good luck and I hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy.

I think that you should just relax and wait the two weeks and see how things turn out. It is possible that you are having twins but definitely waiting the 2 weeks all of your questions should be answered by you doctors. Congrats on your pregnancy!
