Wondering... Is a diaper genie necessary??

Im just curious if a 'specialty' garbage can is needed? I've read a lot of reviews that they are expensive with the certain bags, they break, they still smell, they don't hold a lot & are changing the bags all the time anyways.
I have one on my registry but Im all about necessity and not having a bunch of 'junk' around.

It's a waste of money. My boyfriend has one for his house, because someone gave it to him, but I'm just using diaper bags that have a scent and putting it in a separate garbage bag. They're really small and don't hold like anything, and I've heard they smell bad after awhile.

I'm not gettin' one. They have those trash bags for baby diapers that smell like baby powder to help eliminate the odor. I'm plannin' on using those and a trash can with a lid on It. If It gets extreme or to the point where I can't stand the smell, then I'll juss toss It outside In the garbage can like regular trash and walla, the stink Is gone.

I also had no luck with them.
Also resorted to recycling plastic grocery bags. Tie them tight toss them in the garbage.
Personally i toss it outside the door and my husband walks them to the can.

I had one and it stunk so bad, and half the time didn't work right. The bags are expensive, especially considering plastic grocery bags are free when you get groceries lol.

Omg the diaper genie was a nightmare for me. A waste of money in my opinion. Half the time it didnt even work right. We just use regular pails and plastic bags from grocery stores. Ive never had a problem even with the nasty ones. Its so not a necessity, just a glamor appeal.

Im of the personal opinion that a Walmart bag and a normal trashcan would do the same trick. If my house becomes too smelly ill just stock up on febreeze and air fresh plug ins lol

I think you'll find it more useful than what you think. I'm only going to use it for poo diapers so the house doesn't stink up and i can't just walk them to the dumpster every time.

you dont need one. Its a waste of money. A regular trash can works fine, just have one that has a lid if you dont like the smell.
