Would you ladies mind sharing your Labour Stories if you were induced to help ease my mind... Thanks!

Hi ladies...
Im due tomorrow and it doesnt seem like this little boy of mine is coming and I feel like Im going mad with exhaustion, sleeplessness, achiness and super excited anticipation...! Im having shared care with 2 different doctors/ hospitals and have been told I will be scheduled for a labour induction Aug 23/24 if lil' Maxx hasnt arrived.
Last week my main doctor (whom will not be delivering me, very upset!) did a V/Exam and said that I was 1cm dialated, 25%effaced and at Station 3. He will more than likely do another V/Exam tomorrow so Im hoping that will encourage labour or that Ive progressed at least.
I have bad anxiety that I control well mostly and am a bit frightened as I have heard that Induction is extremely intensely more painful.
I was also told 2 weeks ago that my baby super healthy and was already at about 9pnd! God help me if he goes the 2 weeks over lol...

I was wondering if any of you that were induced wouldnt mind sharing your Induction labour stories, both positive and negative so that I can prepare myself for what may lie ahead if labour does not progress naturally.

Thanks all xoxox Lorri

If you are effaced and starting to dilate then the induction will be easier.  They are pretty much just moving things along for you.  My son was not ready to come out that is why I had such a hard time.  My sister was induced with her 2nd pregnancy and she said the only difference was that the contractions came faster.  She said it wasn't necessarily more painful, just "harder"....the epidural took care of the pain.

Sorry again if my post scared you....I just like telling people what happened to me so that they know what "could" happen.  I have since switched doctors and my new doctor couldn't believe he let me go that long (pregnancy and labor).  Every doctor is different and every woman is different.  I wish you lots of luck and hopefully the baby will come on its own!!!

I DONT LIKE BEING INDUCTED!!!!! lol sorry but I am just ticked about the way that went. It wasnt more painful or anything but the contractions can be one on top of the other if they get that drip going too fast and it makes the labor harder. My second child was WAY more painful and I wasnt inducted with her. I just wasnt comfortable with them forcing my body into labor and then regulating how fast it progressed.

Hi ladies! Thankyou so much for sharing your stories with me. I actually feel alot more calmer about the idea of induction now. Whatever will be will be! I had mostly heard 'bad' stories aout inductions so is nice to hear some positive welcomed experiences.
I had my 40 week check up today and I am still at 25% effaced and at just 1cm dialated - so no change from a week ago. Im still having lots of stong irregular BH and all that goes with the last few weeks. I havent lost my m/plug yet either. If I dont go naturally I will be induced in around 10days time as my blood pressure is terrific, swelling minimal, baby is still healthy, happy and his heart is beating away perfectly.
I think I just have to embrace that he has his own plan and that he will come when he is ready otherwise I will meet him in about 10 days! woohoo!

thanks again to u all - lorri

Before I start...ALL of my friends have told me that I am NOT the one to talk to when it comes to labor...LOL!!  I was 13 days late with my son before they finally decided to induce me.  I was not dilated, effaced, or soft before I went in for my induction.  I went in the night before and was given Cervadil (kind of like a tampon) to soften my cervix (6 pm).  After about 3 hours I had horrible back labor (felt like I had to poo..sorry if TMI).  Finally after 12 hours (6 am) they broke my water and gave me an epidural as I was 2 cm dilated at this point.  They started the Pitocin around 8 am.  For about 3 hours there was no change in dilation.  About every hour after that I would dilate about 1 cm.  Things seemed like they were moving on nicely.  At about 3 pm I was 9 cm and was told that I would have to start pushing at any moment.  At 7 pm, they came in to check and I was still 9 cm, at this point I was on my 2nd round of Pitocin and I haven't ate since 6 pm the night before.  I got very nauseous and lightheaded and was administered oxygen.  I was given the option to wait it out another hour or two, or go for the C-section.  I threw in the towel and went for the C-section.  My son was born at 7:57 pm (almost 24 hours after the start of induction) and it was the most beautiful, exhausting thing I have ever done!!!

I am not trying to scare you but I just want to tell you what happened to me.  My son was 8 lbs. 11 oz (I am almost 5'3) and I was told my pelvic area was just not big enough for him.  He never "dropped" which I heard makes a huge difference because there was no pressure on my pelvic area.  If you are already dilated then you should have an easier time than me with induction.  My baby was "stuck" that is why I had such a hard time.  Luckily with my next one they are taking no chances and just doing a c-section.  I wish you lots of luck!!!

You can look up my induction post by going to my profile and clicking on posts, it should be titled something like "Max is here" or something to that effect. My induction and labor and delivery was quite easy. Hopefully it will help to ease your mind  bit.

My mom's water broke w/my youngest brother but she didn't start contracting so they had to induce with Pitocin. She also didn't have ANY pain management. she went all natural (this was her 1st natural birth after 3 csections!)  it was tough but she said she'd do it all over again.

i was induced with my first child. they used the gel on me 3 times in one day... and it didnt work. they sent me home late that night and then next morning i started to have contactions and continued to have them for 3 days. they were not painful at all. then when my contractions were about 2-3 minutes apart, we headed to the hospital where the doc broke my water. then the painful contractions started. when i say painful... i mean that they were like bad period cramps, very tolerable. most of my bad pain was in my lower back. i took a shower while sitting on a huge exercise ball... it felt soooo good!!!  i had the gas, and some morphine for pain. they gave me the epidural just before labour... and i had NO pain after that. I FELT NOTHING!!!!  i had an excellent labour experience. i had to have an epesiotomy (sp) because my daughter was 9lbs 1oz. and again,.. i didnt feel that at all either. my daughter was 9 days overdue, i was soooo happy to have her out!! lol
i know its hard to not think about it or be scared, but what you are feeling is completely normal! everything will be fine!  i wish you all the best on a safe and painless delivery.. GOOD LUCK!!!

I was induced at 39w2days.  It was a WONDERFUL experience!  They started pitocin at 8am and broke my water around 10am.  I asked for an epidural around noon.  NOT because the pain was unbearable but the contractions were becoming more intense and regular and I had NO CLUE what to expect.  I was perfectly comfortable, laughing, visiting, and joking all day!  Around 7pm my epidural started to wear off and by the time they were able to redose I had about a 30 minute gap (so I did actually get to feel "real" contractions!!)  After the new epidural was in, things progressed quickly and I had my little girl at 9:41pm!  I only pushed for 23 minutes!

I was nervous about being induced as well because they "say" that it is a more painful labor.  But honestly, you can go into labor completely on your own and still require pitocin or other labor inducing drugs to help you along.  I remember feeling very nervous and anxious of the 'unknown' but I had a wonderful experience!  Being induced also kept me from sitting around saying "Am I in labor now?", "What about now?", "Is this it?", "Was that a contraction?"...it saved my sanity!  LOL!

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!  YOU'RE GONNA DO GREAT!

I was induced with my 4th child by my choice to make sure my doc was the one to deliver.  It wasn't bad.  Infact it's kind of neat because you know what to expect and when.  I got to the hospital at about 6:30 a.m.  They got me hooked up to an IV.  I did get an epidural.  And my daughter was born at 3:55 p.m.  But that was my 4th and it went pretty quick.  It wasn't bad.  I almost got induced with my 5th for the same reason but she decided to come all on her own the day before the scheduled induction :)  She had her own plan.....

I was induced after my water broke because labor was not progressing fast enough. I did not have an epidural but I did get the I.V. drug whatever that was. Really I do not know if it would have been more or less painful because it was my first baby. I didn't scream or anything and it really was not too bad. The part that hurt the most for me was the contractions, once the baby started to come out it felt 100% better! I was numb down below so I did not feel the pain from him coming out, just pain relief as he was born! It's was not bad at all for me, so I wish you good luck and I know everything will be fine for you! No worries!
