ambien while pregnant

Ok so even before pregnancy I have had issues with insomnia. It has gotten really bad since being pregnant to where its effecting my work and daily obligations. My doctor gave me a sample of ambiem from one of there reps about a week ago it only has 2 pills but I have been very hesitant to try it. I guess my question is have any other momny takin this while being pregnant I'm very unsure of weather or not to try it and guess it would give me some peace of mind if I have heard of someone else trying this during pregnancy.  By the way I'm 26+5

I had and still have horrible insomnia before I got pregnant I was on a high dose of trazadone (for a long time too) after I got pregnant I immediately quit taking it because it is a class c drug and could potentially be hazardous for your unborn child. I tried everything and I mean everything no caffeine, benadryl, unisom, exercise, and ambian nothing worked for me. I am currently 26+4 still struggling with insomnia and just lay in bed with my boyfriend all night till he goes to work every night. I just lay in bed till I fall asleep which most of the time no lie takes a minimum of 2 hours. I know this probably wasn't what you were expecting but I did a ten day trial of ambian it didn't hurt my child but also didn't work for me either. I wish you good luck!

Thank you ladies. And its not so much that I'm paranoid I just would like as much information on it before I try, I have never heard of ambien being prescibed to pregnant women but I most definitely have more peace of mind knowing others have takenit as well

Hey ibtake ambien and it works wonders. No dont think im addicted because im not. Before ibwas only getting 2 hrs sleep tops now i get a healthy 7. Im on ambien 5's which are the lowest dose, another my ob dr prescribed it, sorry but im sure they wouldnt give us something that would potentially cause harm to us or our children. Not sleeping would do more damage. Its safe ive been taking it since i was 15w, I am now 31w+6d and my baby is doing amazing! Shes actually progressing faster than she should, besides heartburn i dont have any problems really. If your that paranoid talk to your dr hun:)

There's a pregnancy app called Pregnancy Companion. It has a Dr.'s approved medicine guide that is very helpful as in what you can and cannot take during pregnancy.
