baby dropped already

Well the last few weeks i have been finding it quite difficult to breath when lying down and after eating a meal.  I know this is because the baby is getting bigger and pressing on my diaphram and squashing my other organs.  However the last few days this complaint has eased.  I went to my ob on Friday and when checking the baby he commented on the fact that the baby has moved down quite a bit and is in a really good position.  I asked if this meant i might go into early labor and he said not really but it is the cause of a lot of my pubic bone pressure and  pain.  He said to try and take it easy and cut back on some of the walking i am doing.

I thought you were not supposed to drop until labor with your second pregnancy.  Do you think i might go early? I am already booked in for a c-section at 38.4 weeks and am currently only 30.3 weeks, so far too early for anything to happen (i hope).  Has anyone had their baby drop this early in second or subsequent pregnancies and gone early or gone until full term?  Could the baby still change position and move back up?  Thanks

thanks - lets hope this is one of those times when you drop weeks before the baby comes.  I am having a planned c-section for a reason and really don't want to go into labor especially if it is early (not that anyone does).  I guess i just need to relax, Be aware of my limitations and hope for the best.  Good luck with your birth and i hope all goes smoothly.

You can drop weeks before labor with any pregnancy, and some people don't drop until labor, or at all. With my first baby I never dropped until labor. My second baby dropped about 2 months before I was due, I had him a day before my due date. My third baby dropped about 4 or 5 hours before actual labor, but I experianced labor pains with him for 2 weeks. And im 37 weeks pregnant with my 4th baby and he hasn't even dropped yet, but we are planning for me to go early with him.

Dropping is a good sign that labor is close, but the sign never says how close lol. Kind of like your mucous plug, you can lose it weeks before actual labor starts.

It takes the pressure from baby's head to help you dialate, which is my issue now. But the only thing that tells your body that it's ready is baby, no matter how early he has dropped or how much you walk or not. There is a chemical that is secreted inside the uterus when baby's lungs are matured, that chemical is what sends you into active labor....Sometimes.

Other times your body just can't do it anymore. Or there are complications. I had my daughter 6 weeks early, but that was due to her being ill and my body had to make a choice between keeping me alive or keeping baby inside me.

Once they drop they usually stay there, but I have heard that they can come back up, or even change into a breech position.
