Cole had this too, his ped prescribed  Lactulose, he took 3mm once a day.. and it made a huge difference. and it made things really consistent and now that hes on cereal i think its making his bowels hard again, so now that hes older ill prolly try the juice. but IMO i wouldnt give juice that early, but everyone is different

Yeah I most dr's will say half juice and half water. I always used pear juice as it ahs the least amount of natural suger. The organic is best like Ashleen said, Apple juice especially as it has soo much natural sugers in it already.

Isn't she eating formula with rice in it? Oh and does the dr still have her on the Zantac or are you just using the rice cuz of the cost of the meds? The rice will make her constipated if it is too thick and can even if it is not too thick. I would try to not mix as much and maybe not put it in one bottle a day that you will be holding her upright till the next bottle to help. OH yeah but if you ahve her on the meds, any of those have the side affects of doing that! It is basically like a antihisamine and drys out the bowels and body to stop the acid. I have severe reflux from a hiatal hernia and I can not take those meds cuz of that.

Hope she feels better and the juice is 2-4 ozs only once a day till she is better.

I have my daughter a watered down apple juice too.  My mom always said fennel seed tea.  It worked.  I brewed tea from fennel seed & fed it to her.  (just a little)  I think this is an "old wives tale" thing, but it worked.  Fennel is a natural herb, so your not using chemicals or anything odd.

I prefer apple juice to get things moving if you know what I mean....organic apple juice with no sugar added. it's a bit healthier than some of the other mixtures and tends to REALLY get things going :).

you can try all the things smjmekg suggested also i gave ariana apple juice; and still do. first time she had it was about 6 or 7 weeks and it worked almost instantly. some people dont feel comfortable doing that but you can phone the ped and ask them what they suggest. thats what they told me to do!

I was giving Elijah a little bit of water (about an ounce) with maybe 1/4 teaspoon of sugar mixed in (if you try it make sure she drinks it slow, it's thinner than formula/breast milk (my Grandma's home remedy))...or half and half (mostly water) about 2 oz of the Gerber baby juice every other day or so at her age because he had so many problems going number two. It helped him a lot...but when he was screaming and crying and having a really hard time going, it also helped to use a thermometer and a little vaseline, just put the very tip in...it causes them to push to get what's in out...it worked pretty quick the few times I had to do it (my mom was the one who really did it I couldn't do it, lol)...that trick was ped recommended. I hope she gets some relief soon, I know how hard it is to watch. Elijah would literally push and grunt until he turned bright red, almost purple looking and then just cry...
