Everyone has different reactions to depo. I was on it and will NEVER get it again. I was really hormonal as if I were pregnant. It gave me terrible acne and I gained weight. In my opinion, that stuff is of the devil! I'm going back to the pill after I have my princess!!

Everyone of course has their opinion. I took one shot of depo, gained weight never took it again. Was on the pill for about 14 years, it worked very well never got pregnant until I got off to get pregnant. Finally got the non-hormonal IUD and loved it. Had it in for  3 years, no hormones making me feel wacking, no problems and no babies until I took it out for this last pregnancy.

There are risks with all birth control
I had a still bourn with the implant ( I'm my arm )
My son was conceived on a lo does pill
I conceived twins on the iud mirina  witch one of the fertilised eggs escaped my womb thru a hole the iud had made in it and the egg attached somewhere in my abdomen. My pregnancy went un detected for 12 weeks then i discovered my pregnancy miscarried my viable twin and had Emergancy surgery and methotrexate to treat my ectopic pregnancy. Whatever you chose do your research well and if you fell there is something wrong see you'r doctor and make them listen

Wow sounds like depo sux. And btw the thing in your arm (implanon) that I had for two years lol does not dry up your milk haha or I would not have had it oh yea bc I was breastfeeding exclusively! And was recommended by my doctor for that reason bc I can't remember to take pill plus the pill made me sick. Ill say again ppl no one bc is better than the other bc IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE WOMEN. They are different for everyone this really isn't something with arguing about lol.

I absolutely hated the depo shot. I have nightmares thinking of this damn method of  birth-control!

I ABSOLUTELY HATED the depo shot. I know like anything else, somethings work differently for each individual. After I had gotten my second shot of depo, EVERYTHING went down hill from there. I was told that I would have a very light period or no period at all. Of course I started spotting, which led to bleeding. I had a period that started for a week and lasted for two weeks. The following period lasted for three weeks and the following period lasted for a month. I ended up having a period day-for-day for OVER AN ENTIRE year. I ended up becoming anemic because of the blood loss over a prolonged period of time. When I went to the doctor they tried to put me on the pill to balance my hormones back out and it didn't work. I was eventually told my body would "work itself out". Finally after a year and a half my I stopped bleeding and my periods were "normal". I bled so bad, I would be sent home from school. There was no pad absorbent enough.

I thought since my periods were back to regular that I could try getting pregnant. NOPE, that didn't happen. It took a good two years to get pregnant with my son.

And yea the depo makes you have changes in your appetite I didn't eat much before I ate normal portions and when I got on it I was hungry constantly it's not an excuse everybody is different if you didn't gain weight while you were on it good for you but nobody's body is the same and everyone reacts different but from my experience and a lot of friends tht used to be on it they would all agree it's not something that happens cuz of your habits it's the shot idc what anyone says I know how it affected me.

If you plan on breastfeeding, don't get the depo or anything in your arm because it can dry up your milk in literally one day.

If you don't want to gain weight DO NOT take the depo I was on that for one yr years ago my mom made me go on it so I had no choice and I gained almost sixty pounds as soon as I turned 18 I was off that and I will NEVER take it again

Actually changes in appetite and weight gain are noted possible side effects of the depo shot. Just because this was not the case for you does not mean its untrue

The whole 'deposit makes you gain weight' is a joke.  I was on depo for a decade, my weight was controlled by diet and exercise, I didn't gain by going on it.  I think some women say that as an excuse just to have something else to blame it on instead of their poor habits & choices.

Depo - gained 45 pounds in 3 months and didn't have my period for almost a year after I stopped taking it.
Birth control pills - hard to remember but minimal side effects for me personally. Regular period.
Mirena - terrible. No period for three years while I had it in. Cramps, bloating and discomfort everyday. It migrated into my uterus. Had to get surgery.

These are my personal experiences everyone is different

Depo is better . I haven't gained weight when I was using it & I got my period a couple of weeks after I stop using it. So , depo is better.

Unfortunately every bc is different for everyone. All have side effects and pros and cons. Anyones best bet with bc is researching options and taking to primary care physician to help you choose what's best for you. I personally loved the implanon. I had it for just over 2 years. Plus it's safe for breastfeeding. Itd a very tiny rod inserted subcutaneously into the underneath fatty tissue of your arm. Good for up to 3 years. I got pregnant after third month after having it out :-)

I personally would never do the depo shot again.. thats the only thing I've ever tried. I had literally one injection and didnt get my period back for 9 months after the three month period when you need to have another.. also it can cause weight gain.. it did for me anyway. I gave it another try just to be protected and the same thing... never again. I got it because none of the other methods seemed appealing and I felt pressured to get something during my appointment and that seemed the easiest. . Do your research and decide whats best. Idk what I will do after this one possibly we will just have to be firm on the condoms lol
