breaking the lease?

So I'm thinking about breaking the lease and finding a cheaper apartment so I can have extra money , how bad does it look on your credit by breaking the lease?  I live in California by the way

The places I had to break my lease let me go with out paying. Of course they kept my security deposit but I usually had a sad story and couldnt pay anyway. They were very understanding.

Pretty sure you still have to pay until your lease is up or until someone else moves I to that appartment. And if you just decide to move and not okay it will really hurt your credit score. Try finding a repacement. Like a friend or family member that could move into your apartment and put their name on the lease

When we broke our lease we told then we didn't have the money and couldn't keep paying that much a month and they were okay with it but we ended up getting charged like $3700 haven't paid a penny on it and my credit is down to 481. :(

They could take you to court and you could be force to pay the whole amount of the lease plus it could put a big dent In your credit. But breaking the lease does not mean you would get out of paying that money...
