can the fetal pole just be gone?

hi, i am 7weeks pregnant and i had a scan at 5weeks everything was fine and there was a fetal pole now having a scan at 7weeks the fetal pole has gone but the sack is still growing and my hcg levels are rising as should be, i have got to go back next week for another scan, any advise would be great as im very confused :/

Good luck, whichever way things go.  If the pregnancy is faded, I am sorry, that is very tough.  If not, then just write off the scare as one of those odd things that happens in early pregnancy.

If there is no mistake in what they are seeing, I am sorry but it would sound like the pregnancy has faded.  You can still have hCG readings as long as there is a placenta, and it can sometimes take a while for the placenta to get the message that there is no viable embryo any longer.  The body will reabsorb the embryo if it has ended, which (especially so early when the embryo is just a fetal pole) can happen pretty fast.  Next week's scan will tell you if this is what happened or if it was all just an erroneous interpretation of the ultrasound.
