castor oil?

I am currently 38w6d and 1 cm dilated. I am wondering how many of you have used castor oil to speed labor up...

The thing about tryn to induce yourself us that too many people with opinions. Its been used for years, worked for some, caused problems for some its just a chance it might work ( which it did for my sis) and a chance it wont. No matter what you do to induce your labor there is always risk.

I've stayed hydrated all day and am continuing to.  So that is not a concern of mine.

Castor oil is a laxative and unless you're on top of your fluid intake, it has a great potential to cause dehydration. Dehydration has been linked to babies having their first bowel movement in utero. So if the castor oil causes you to have diarrhea and vomiting and you can't replace the fluids lost quick and efficiently enough, it can cause meconiun aspiration.

There is no proven studies that castor oil makes the baby poop in utero. The only real danger is that itll make u poop AlOt!! But other than that its fine.

If you read about the babies progress each week. You'd know that at 38 weeks babies take there first bowel movement. So STOP blaming it on castor oil!!!!!
