conception date?

I was told that I am 8 weeks pregnant, I know the exact day that I had sex with the potential father. We had sex on Oct. 23.....now when I try to figure out my due date it asks if I want to do it by LMP or date of conception. Now would Oct. 23 be the date of conception? And if so how am I already 8 weeks pregnant? I am totally confused by all this.

October 23 sounds about right since it would be 6 weeks since conception but considered 8 weeks along since they count from the first day of your LMP. But remember that the date of conception could be different than the day that you had sex since sperm can survive for 5 days. Best thing to do is get a paternity test to know for sure.

I replied to the other posting and read this second.....It could very well be the 'other' guys baby......My LMP was 10/6 and my due date was 7/14 (before problems)....I conceived somewhere around mid-Oct. and I would have been 9 weeks tomorrow....Hope that helps you as a guideline.....when was the last time that you and your soon to be ex had intercourse???  If it wasn't even close to that time, then you are probably all set.  Of course the only way to be 100% sure would be a paternity test.
