diapers

what diapers do you like best?  I'd like to try to save as much $$$$$ as possible, but I don't want super plasticky ones that leak either.  I thought I'd start to stock up a bit on a few different sizes.

when I had my daughter 5 yrs ago, I used the white cloud ones from walmart.  I really liked them & they are affordable.  I don't see them at the walmart in our town.  are they still being made?  If they are at another walmart, I would travel to get them.

Perhaps cloth diapers???  do they really save $$$$????  I pay for city water.  will all the washing & soaking cost as much.  I also think I would work after the baby is here (as I like having more $$$$ in our family), so ate cloth diapers a lot more time consuming?

I love Pampers Swaddlers, just like someone else stated, id use them forever if they went passed size 2, which is what Cole is in now! i hope to squeeze him in there for awhile.. there 25 bucks for 106 diapers at walmart.  Kinda pricey, but worth it.. they last anywhere from a week to a week and half right now.  Next ill prolly try the regular pampers, as i heard Pampers movers arnt that great. I am a pampers diapers and a Huggies wipes mommy.. I tried pampers wipes and dont care for them, I like Huggies nature care wipes, ther nice and thick...

I would NEVER use cloth diapers.. seems gross and unsanitary to me

Bum genius work great w no leaks huge up front cost unless you can get them second hand.

I asked around and heard universally huggies plus they make natural ones without bleach and nasty chemicals in it. I have VERY sensitive skin so I wouldn't be surprised if baby does too so I wanted no chemicals if possible. So Huggies all natural is what we are going with

see I mostly agree with penswriter. For me, I loved huggies the absolute best. I hated Up and Up (target) and Parent's Choice (wal-mart) because they're so cheap and flimsy...I switched between huggies and pampers in the beginning, and then went to huggies for the most part. When i need something cheap, I buy either Kirkland's (the costco brand...which is AMAZING) or I buy the Babies R Us brand....we got the 7th Generation brand on sale at Toys R Us over Christmas and I LOVED THEM!!!!!!! They're pretty expensive though, lol.

So if you want cheap...I'd say pampers isn't bad. I don't like Luvs, the girl I nanny for uses them and they're very flimsy and plasticy IMO. that's also why I don't like Up and Up or Parent's choice...and don't get me wrong, I have both Up and Up and Parent's Choice in my house right now due to budget, but if I could spend my money the way I want..it would be huggies or 7th Gen all the way. For cheap though, Pampers is your best deal. You want to save money, but you don't want to skimp :-).

huggies, parents choice and target brands were the WORST!!!!  we had so many leaks and "blow outs" it was unreal. pampers...i swear by pampers. we've been using them since...well for over 2 years now (we're now into pampers pull ups) and I still love em. (Plus they have toy story designs which the boys love) we get 2 cases on amazon for $30. lasts us about 1 1/2 - 2 weeks.

I like to use pampers swaddlers for nb-1/2 then after that I like to use Luvs. This time around I'm gonna try to use Luvs from the start.

With my DD we used Luvs, because they were very affordable and you could buy them in the big bulk boxes for pretty cheap...With this baby we are going to use Cloth Diapers for home and disposable diapers for going out. Instead of disposables all the time.

I used Huggies Supreme with my other 3 ( they do not make them anymore either)

THis time I am using the BUm Genius 4.0, Eco Bum and prefolds with Thirsties Duo Cover.

I spent about $80 on preemie and NB diapers on Diaper Swappers to get all different kinds, all-in-ones, pockets, prefolds, and WHAM's (work at home moms, who make homemade ones which are great 99.9% of the time!)

Anyway I chose the BUm Genius 4.0 which goes from 5-35lbs and Eco BUm which is a cover and prefold that has the same weight difference and the thirsties actually does nto ahve one size but two but I love them on him and they hold things in great and have great colors and are cheep!

You have to use natural soap like Allens, Rockn Baby, Tiny Bubbles, or Baby Ganics. I use BAC Out I forget the name of who makes it but it is natural and keeps out smells!  I use Baby Ganics from BRU and bought two things and still am on the first one! You only use 1/2 of what you use on a regular load of normal wash so it lasts longer! You do a cold rinse no soap, hot wash and extra rinse. I have a sprayer that hooks to the toilet I got a cotton babies ( the best place to go and free shipping int eh US) but have yet to use it. You wash poo's every other day and pees up to every three days. You buy enough diapers for two days at least which is 24 at first but if you use prefolds with snapies and covers and use all in ones or pockets when going out it is cheaper! The covers you buy like 2-3 for a day cuz you only change them if they get poo on them or too wet on the side. I have a heavy wetter but never got wet on the side!

You never use fabric softner and if you wash them then let them dry in the sun it takes any stains you may get totally out! Great for other clothes as well!! Sunning is your best friend for stains! Fabric softner will make you diapers leak! Also hanging them makes them last longer and stay nicer.

If anyones has any questions about them ask me, I throw them in my diaper champ then dump in the wash! I exclusivly breastfeed now theough so no bad solid poo's yet.

I will have to say this is my first time doing this, I have used spoosies or disposables but this is just as easy and way better for rashes and babies bum. I have never tried the flips or G diapers from target but heard they workd good! The inserts in them you dump in the toilet!!!

Also I do EC with my little guy since 2 months and he goes on the potty most of the time too. But I love cloth and fluffy bums are super cute!

I know ones who use pampers usually can not use huggies and vis verssa. ALso that Luves once you are past size NB an ! are just as good, but I know nothing to the toher brands.

Don't forget diaper swappers!!!

I only use pampers swaddlers now. We tried the target brand and after changing her clothes for the 5th time in one day I tossed em all and gave the rest away. Huggies gave her a bad bad rash and Luvs she leaked out of like crazy too.

I'm using huggies and pampers for my DD right now. I'm quite taken with them as a friend bought the parent's choice diapers and I trashed them. She leaked through them and it was just a mess.

I'm using the huggies snugglers for DD who is almost 2 weeks old, a friend of mine got me a huge box before she was born and i like the newborn partially because they have the little cut out for where their umbilical cord is, now that hers has fallen off doesnt do me any good but i like the snugglers regardless. I'm not sure what I'm going to buy after this box runs out.  I've used both parents choice and Up&Up with DS who is now 2. Parents choice were good up until  either im not sure if they changed something or when they went to size 5 i had to change him constantly or he's pee through them and ended up not saving money on them at all since i went through them faster. I've never used Up&Up in the smaller sizes but i like them for DS during the day, i've had a few problems with them at night, probably 4-5 nights out of 2-3 months he leaks through them in the middle of the night, but overall i've been pretty happy with them. I'm most likely going to buy DD Up&Up for DD when this box of huggies snugglers runs out in newborn and try them, she's a little skinny butt so she'll most definitely need newborn still this time next week, i have half a box left. If i can find this post when i get them ill let you know how the newborns in Up&Up work out. I definitely like the snugglers though, really soft and stretchy, no leaks so far even after a would of been explosive diaper lol.

I LOVE the Up&Up from target.  They work better for my daughter than the pampers do.  Very reasonably priced.  I got a box of 144 for 19.99 today.

I just did a quick search and visited a few websites in search of "the best cheap diaper". LOL!

It seems that Wal-Mart's Parent Choice and Target's Up & Up brand seem to be very well liked and many Mom's said they were equal to or better than name brand diapers. I did some quick number crunching and for Newborn diapers the Parent Choice is slightly cheaper than the Up & Up. But for size 1, the Up & Up is cheaper than the Parent Choice. However, the cost difference in either size is only about $.01 per diaper. So, whichever store is closest to you is the brand I would consider giving a try.

If i dont use "flip" or bum genius then I HAVE to try cosco brand of diapers. I heard they are wonderful. And when you buy in bulf they are really cheap too.

*I* personally LOVE LOVE LOVE pampers swaddlers.... Id use them for my daughter for nighttime-IF they made them bigger then a sze 2. They are THE softest diapers I have EVER used.

White Cloud is discontinued but I have great success with Parents Choice from Walmart. They are very affordable and I like them better than the others with this baby. Also their side flaps seem to stretch better.

I actually spend a few weeks at Wal Mart asking a few moms in the diaper isle what brand they prefered. I didn't stand there for hours...just mosied over there a few weeks in a row to see what everyone prefered. Also, I asked my budget concious sisters what they use. The most popular answer I got was that many moms use pampers or huggies for a few weeks, then they "live, learn, and Luvs" because they work just as good and they are less expensive. So, I have stocked up on Luvs. I hear that the Parents Choice brand is accpetable when they get older, but in the beginning babies tend to pee through them. Good luck picking a brand for now! :)

Looks like I need to follow this thread as well to get some ideas on a new brand. Thanks for asking about this Vacuumprincess!!

I have heard bum genius are really good, never tried them, but I have always heard good things.
I only used luvs when my son got older because they were less expensive and he wouldn't pee as much during the day. Never tired them for a newborn, so not sure if they would leak or not. I have always had issues with diapers, and tried a couple of different brands and I have to say I am most satisfied with pampers at least for sizes N-3. They always worked so well, but I know they can be pricy. This time around, I am going to try an organic brand. My mom found some coupons, so I am stepping out and trying something new again.
