Both of the doctors I had would be really quick and listen to the heartbeat. They wouldn't even check my blood pressure since the nurse would do that before she came in. But they always asked me if I had any questions before the appointment was over. If I ended up having a worry or a question while at home they usually would call back at the end of the day or have the NP call. Something you have to remember is they have lots of patients and have to be at the hospital delivering baby's a lot of the times too. Plus if they have have partners then sometimrs they will have to take all their load as well. I felt really bad when I ended up having my miscarriage. My sister was pregnant at the time and we had the same doctor and I was scheduled to go in and get a d&c. She ended up going into labor and because the doctor was in surgery with me she had to have one of the partners deliver her baby.
My doc is very thorough, I ask questions constantly and she spends her time with me. If its not to late maybe your should switch to another one.
All my doctor does is check the heartbeat, & ask if I have any questions. unless I don't have any then it's a quick appt. since I hit about 30 weeks tho , he's been telling me what I should do to prepare, ( pediatrician , hospital , ect ) and has asked how I wanted my labor to go.
Mommyofaria I am totally with u on that this is also my first baby and I feel like before I can get a question out she has her hand.on the door getting ready to walk out ughh so frustrating
My doctor is the exact. same way...its like hello this is my first time having a baby...please explain something to me or tell me.what to expect!!! It's like if I ask no questions I don't get anything....I hate that...
I always saw a midwife, and she was awesome. Stayed for at least 15 minutes, listened to my baby, tool blood pressure, made sure I knew everything. I hope your doctos takes the time for you!
I never feel like my dr gives a sh**
my 1st visit and u/s were the longest. After that its just take my blood pressure, ask how I have been feeling, listen to the hb w/ the droppler and asks if I have any ?s. And that's it . 10 minute tops. Starting at 35weeks he started checking my cervix, so now its 10-15mins long.
But any time I have called or had the er Dr call he took the call personally instead of sending a nurse.
We have midwives in the UK they are very informative and helpful. Sorry about your crappy doctor x
