does thick, clear stringy vagial discharge mean i'm fertile?

I had stringy clear discharge that stretched apart between my fingers on saturday, but have had nothing since, my ovulation kits are negative.  Could this be a sign on ovulation being near?  what else does this mean?

What CD were you when you got it? I would sometimes get it as early as CD8. It would last a week or so for me.

I have 30 to 35 day cycles and my chart says I was due to ovulate july 7th but july 10th I had a big gob of clear odorless jelly like discharge when I wiped from urinating my hubby got home from working in another state on july 12th and we did the do around 2pm...I continued with clear stringy dc from july 10th-12th...we did the do again on the 14th...both times he ejaculated inside...what I really want to know is after ovulation symptoms such as discharge...how long b4 the egg is released? Or are u already ovulating once u notice the discharge? Btw I had a obgyn appt two weeks ago& received normal pap& negative for stds or infections& they put me on prenatals b/c I told them we were planning to try for baby#2

I know when I O that's the kind of mucus I get, clear stringy stretchy mucus, it only happens one day.  I bd'd that same day and now I'm 35 weeks pregnant.
Good luck!

Yes, having cervical discharge COULD mean you are fertile. But if you are dry again then it could mean any number of things- that you missed ovulation or that the discharge will pick up again and you will ovulate.

I've already used babyhopes before and i do love the site however because i have a 28-32day cycle i could be ovulating anytime between today and friday of this week but when you hear you have to bed every second day for the sperm count to rebuild it doesn't give you to long to try.  I'm hoping this is my month but i really doubt it after 19 months of trying it just seems like it's never going to happen

thanks Kate535 but when i got this mucus we hadn't bedded and it was clear, i don't usually get as much as that but it seems to have stopped since saturday.  I also took an OPK Test this morning and friday and both were negative i don't think i've ovulated yet.

I'll take another OPK on Wednesday and hope it comes back positive!!

you can go to babyhopes.com and there on the left hand side click on ovulation calendar and type in your info as in the first day of your last menstrual and so on and then it will give you the days you will be ovulating and other helpful info you could use... good luck hope it helps...

To pinpoint your ovulation day, checking for several days for stringy cervical mucus, is one of the ways you can detect ovulation for yourself, without having to buy a kit. Another description may be you have a discharge or slight spotting ?? which can also occur near the time of ovulation. So it does sound like you are ovulating to me. However it might be the left over sperm from the last time you had sex, if you've been having a lot of sex as part of your TTC ritual. It might still be inside you. But I do think it sounds like ovulation, so Good Luck !
