early contractions

Hi, I have a grand-daughter who is 30 weeks pregnant with her second child.  She had a rough time with first pregnancy and had to have a c-section because she couldn't dilate past 7 and baby's head was large.  For about the 3rd time in about 3 weeks she has started contractions.  First two times they gave her meds to stop contractions and said she was dehydrating and now this third time they say she is having contractions but isn't dilating so and not dehydrating so sent her home from ER and told her that some women have contractions thru much of their pregnancy.  Has anyone ever heard of that...contractions thru much of pregnancy.  Also has me concerned because baby is getting large and  the mother has gestational diabetes.  Please let me know.

I have the same problem, I had to go to the er. They gave me the injection as well to stop the contractions. I was dehydrated, that was the reason of me having contractions. But I notice that every time I go for a walk a get contractions. I told my dr. he said to stop taking long walks, stop having sex and if I had sex to use a condom since semen makes your vagina contract I believe thats what he said. And also to drink a lot of water.  Dr. said theres not really a reason to know why that happens. And like paxmommy said they defined as irretable uterus.

Im your lady! I was in the hosp on friday and yesterday as well. I am 34wk. I was having contractions every 5 minutes but was not dilating. they gave me two injections to stop the contractions and after a period of 4 hours they stopped. I was not dehydrated and was ruled out not having a bladder infection. I am now on bed rest for a week to see if the contractions stopped. they said I had an irritable uterus. I am at risk for preterm labor.

I saw your question about how you couldn't find this question that you posted, so I went sleuthing and decided to comment on it to bump it back for you. It sounds to me that she might go into labor early, but I'm not sure. I know some women feel braxton hicks throughout their pregnancy. I'm really unsure of what could be happening to her, but I'm sure someone on here may be more knowledgeable about it than I am.
