if the baby itself is measuring 5 weeks, then it's very possibly only 5 weeks....this is why alot of dr's refuse to schedule sono's/us' until sometimes 9 weeks.....the heart is just forming enough to give a beat, and it is not always possible to be heard yet.....i hope you guys feel better about this, and have a happy and healthy 9 months!!!

Hi, I'm new here and it seems you know what you're talking about. I just had an ultrasound saying the embryo only measured 5W 6D, when it should be at 8W 1D based on my LMP. There wasn't a heartbeat either, do you think I have hope?

6 weeks is the norm for seeing baby's heartbeat, and later for hearing it... don't worry just yet. best wishes! :)

I didn't think a baby ever had a heartbeat till 6 weeks. Don't panic. Good luck for the next scan

Don't worry about heart beat untill 8 weeks. If you haven't heard it by then then there is reason to worry, before that it's normal not to hear it.
