endo and iui

My husband and I have been trying for 14mo to get pregnant. I have endometriosis and his SA was a little off. This month is my first month on 50mg of Clomid. I have an ultrasound on monday and then I will have to give myself the Ovidrel injection; followed by my first IUI two days later. I am just wondering if any of you ladies have any insight/stories to share. I am an RN so I know the legistics, but I guess I am looking for real life experiences. I am nervous and excited all at the same time, but I am afraid to be too hopeful after all the disappointments over the past year. Thank you in advance, this site has given me such a wonderful outlet to connect to women that know exactly what I am going through!

I got pregnant with an IUI. It was my first IUI as well! I also took 50mg Clomid (which didn't do anything) and then took gonal-F injections. I didn't like the injections at all they burned and hurt me pretty bad, I had my husband giving them to me. I'm not a big fan of needles so I knew I couldn't do it myself. I also had one of the nurses give me the HCG shot, it's a much bigger shot and I wasn't comfortable having my husband do it! I was nervous about the timing of the HCG shot and the IUI. We did the IUI the very next day after the HCG shot but with only about 24 hours between them. Usually they try for 36 hours I guess.

My husband had a low count (which is mostly why we were doing the IUI, gives the best chance of success for male factor infertility). His count for the IUI was only 9 mil which also concerned me, I thought for sure that wasn't going to be enough (even though it only takes one!) They had me stay lying down for about 30-35 minutes, I think they forgot I was back there! And that was it, then I was able to go about my day! Although the doctor didn't tell us to and I'm not sure it made a difference my husband and I also BD'd that night as well just to make sure.

Over all it wasn't as horrible as I was imagining it would be. It was pretty easy, the worst part for me were the injections. And maybe the u/s, I had to do one a day for about a week. My follies weren't cooperating. I had 4 mature follies but only two released and only one was fertilized!  So I guess my point is, even if it doesn't seem like it's all exactly perfect there is still a chance it will work! I'm not sure how the endo will paly into it but I'm wishing you the best of luck and tons of baby dust!!!~

Still hoping! I am 4dpiui and I am having uncomfortable cramping in my lower abdomen and back today... I dont know what this means but hopefully nothing bad! I feel like its too soon for symptoms of any kind but its bothering me because they are strong at times and it feels similar to my AF cramps (which isnt due for another 2 weeks!) Can any of you IUI ladies shed some light??

KitKat- wow! Im so glad it worked for you! My hubby has poor motility and thats why we went for iui (and because of my endo of course) His count after washing was 28mil! I cant believe getting pregnant is THIS difficult... Im only asking for ONE hahaha!

I feel like the next 10 days are going to go by sooo slowly waiting for the bloodwork! I feel the urge to POAS already!

Lol! I couldn't wait to POAS either!! I think I only waited until 10dpiui and took a test, it was negative :( but it all worked out! It was just too early to tell! I know how tempting it is to want to just POAS every single day! But I would at least try to wait until a few days before your period!!! I hated getting that negative result, it was so heart breaking. I thought the whole thing had been a waste of time! But it wasn't! I really wish you the best of luck! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!! Let me know as soon as you find anything out!!

That is very funny! The shot really doesn't hurt but at least you could give it to yourself! I couldn't even think about doing it myself! But then again I'm not a nurse, haha! The gonal-F shots did hurt though, the tummy isn't the best place to get shots!

This pregnancy is actually my first we don't have any other children. It's very exciting and it's been going so fast already! I still can't believe I'm already 13 weeks!! (well I will be on thursday!) I really am very excited for you as well I really hope this works out for you! I'll be waiting anxiously to hear from you after your 2WW!!! Good luck! I'll send tons of baby dust your way!!

Lets hope so! I gave myself the Ovidrel last night, I had such a hard time doing it myself; I am a nurse and I couldnt give myself the injection! haha I did it, it just took me a bit to work up the nerve; then of course it didnt hurt at all and I had to laugh at myself! We have the IUI on wed morning...so we will see! Thanks for your support and Im glad that it was successful for you. Ill let you know how it goes! How many children do you have?

Don’t be nerves, it is really easy. I did it in 2010 because I thought that I am not going to get pregnant, for that reason I did it , I was in 100 mil Clomid, and got that injection. On the day of IUI they get sperm from ur husband and they will wash it , that way they can get 100% active sperm. After that they inject them to u and they tell u lay down for 10-20 min , after that u can leave. In my situation I had 5 follicle, different sizes. But having so many is not important, one is enough .i see some people will get pregnant with one round of IUI , or sometimes may takes longer. I just did it once and mine was not success. I got pregnant naturally later .best of luck and sending u a lot of baby dust
