evening primerose oil?

Have any of you used evening primrose oil to help get labor started? if you have did it work and how long did it take? were there any side effects? did you take it orally or vaginally? I am dialated to 4cm, but have not started active labor I am really wanting to get things jump started, but i am not willing to try castor oil as I did try it with my last baby and it made me throw up and I am already nauseated. any experience or advice would be helpful! Thanks

Thanks Joy,
Do think it might help me get to 5cm? the hospital told me they will keep me if I get to 5cm. and i know it won't start contractions or anything, but if it helps me dialate and efface more (I'm 60% effaced) that would be great!

Evening Primrose Oil doesn't induce labor. It simply helps dilate the cervix. Since you're already 4cm it isn't going to do much for you. EPO is something you'd take over the course of your last few months to ripen the cervix and is most likely taken vaginally.

Sex, walking, bouncing on a birth ball- keep active. Get that baby's head down on the cervix to help it dilate and efface more.
