I've been overweight for a little over two years. I was healthy when I got married but I got on the depo provera shot which caused me to gain about fifty pounds. So I'm a good fifty pounds overweight and I've been working on losing it. I lost all my pregnancy weight and was working on a plan to get back to a healthy weight before I got pregnant with number two.
BUT surprise I'm pregnant sooner than expected! Part of my plan was to be able to jog with the stroller up to my mom's house (about a mile away) by the end of summer. I'm ten weeks right now I'm just wondering if anyone thinks I should even try for this now.
I've known a woman with eight kids who ran through every pregnancy, but she was already active and in shape. I really want to get healthy for my baby and little girl but I don't want to risk hurting this pregnancy.

I've made the walk several times but I guess I can wait for the run. I'll just start increasing my speed but never actually jog, more like a power walk.

I ran 6 days a week. From the time I was six until I was twenty four. I got a full time job and couldn't run as much. I started back running in April 2013 shortly after I found out I was pregnant after nearly passing out after a run my obgyn said I couldn't run the remainder of my pregnancy. I don't really know why but I do know I was out of shape. But I lost that baby shortly after so I would talk to your doc before you start that task. Good Luck.

I hear you! I lost 40lbs for my wedding. I got preg right after and had a miscarriage and took it pretty hard. Gained 15lbs in 9 months before I got pregnant again. I'm starting this pregnancy at the weight I was before I got married (before I lost weight) worked so hard for that 40lbs and within 3 years its back :( I'm only going to walk since I have been slacking on being active (always seems to be an excuse for it!) You can do what your body is used to. Now is not the time to try and lose weight. However you can change yourself for the better by eating healthier and going on walks. That way you gain a healthy amount during pregnancy and it should be easier to lose. If its only a mile, I could see you working up to that but you don't want to over do it. Always ask your dr.
