glucose testing?

I don't know why we pregnant woman have to be picked and prodded so much. I'm not a test lab rat. Anyways, is the glucose drink as bad as they say? And why are they testing me early for it? I'm only 11 weeks.

U had my glucose test this afternoon I did mine at labcorp. They gave me a fruit punch flavored drink . Tasted really concentrated but it wasn't horrible like I assumed it would be. I thought it would be chalky and thick but not at all. It was just like juice. The hour wait ***** so make sure u bring something to keep you busy. Goodluck :)

I had the fruit punch and it was good, tasted like cold Hawaiian punch. Unfortunately, I failed both tests, lol.

I chugged it! I had the orange one and it was cold! Which helped me a lot! It just tastes like flat orange crush soda!

Do they do that to high risk people and for women that have complications with their pregnancy and people that have lost 3 or more baby's?

Mine was pretty good (hadn't ate that morning) lol the nurses laughed at me because they said I drunk it fast lol. I had the lemon lime kind and it was ice cold.

If you are overweight or have a close family history (eg your mum or sister had gd diabetes) then you will be tested early and monitored more closely.

It's not bad at all. I actually enjoyed the orange one.
If you have any family history of diabetes,  they'll test you early for it. Or that could just could be what your dr does

Because, like any change to your body, having a baby is a big deal. We are lucky to have much better care today than women had before, when the leading cause of death was pregnancy and child birth. I think everyone over exaggerates the glucose test, but even if you think it tastes terrible, it's 5min of your life. You will get over it. And they test early if you have early warning signs or its common in your medical history. If you have questions, ask your Dr.
