I am getting my hair cut and highlights put in on january 14th.  I will be 8 wks and 2 days.  I have read conflicting information on safety of coloring my hair while pregnant.  I would appreciate advice one here...thanks!

i asked my dr about this bc i wanted my hair colored and highlighted, you can get it done however the color doesn't always come our right, make sure to tell the hair dresser you are pregnant but my hair came out fine.

Highlights r fine because they rnt ur whole head :) ive died my haur every 2 weeks this pregnancy b my guy is fine :)

I heard thy because ur hormones r wack the hair colour might not come out the colour u want it or u will have a reaction to it

Actually it is only about the smell because you are inhaling chemicals into your body. The chemicals will not enter your body unless you have an open wound or it is done severly wrong where it burns your scalp. If it is getting done professionally in a well ventilated area it should be safe. I died my hair in my first trimester because it was multicolored and I didn't want my roots to come out and look bad so I dyed it natural. It should be fine, I have a perfectly healthy baby in my belly.

I've heard first trimester is critical with many things. Everyone I know always wait til they were about 13 weeks to do any type of stuff especially hair. I am also one that waited. It's not only about the smell of the dye..

Thanks for all the comments!! The place is well ventilated and I barely ever smell the dye...well that was before my senses kicked into overdrive...I will probably only have a few highlights put in so I think I will take the chance.

My doctor said it's okay as long as the place is well ventilated.

I dyed my hair one time in my whole pregnancy I was in the first trimester still (thought I wasnt) cuz I had pink hair and I refused to go my whole pregnancy with faded ugly pink hair lol

Its safe but some doctors prefer you wait til second trimester to dye/highlight your hair

It is recommended that you wait until you are out of the first trimester, which is after 12 weeks.
