have I done damage???

I posted this in the wrong forum before. I found out I was pregnant and my boyfriend left me and I am currently not in the financial position to have a child. I just started the semester in my last year of college. Ever since I found out I assumed I was going to abort so really haven't changed my routine so much. I have continued to take ambien 10mg and lortab for cyst pain. Also I have used some skin lightening stuff from avon about 3 times and not sure what it contains. The thing is I am now 9 weeks pregnant and don't think I can go through with this abortion but am scared I should just because I have not been going by the book. I know there are no studies on pregnant humans but can someone help me ease my mind? I'm really scared I may have caused damage, I am 9 weeks and 1 day. Thanks in advance!!!!!

as the above poster said ambien is prescribed routinely as a sleep aid during pregnancy.  Lortab is also prescribed to pregnant women as well.  As for the skin lightener I'm not sure, but it's probably not likely that 3 or 4 times has caused any damage.

I agree that you need to get in for an OB appt and have an ultrasound. They can measure growth of the baby and check for proper development and healthy heartbeat.  I think once you have that ultrasound and see that precious little one moving around inside you, you will realize what a blessing you have.

I won't lie, it will be hard, but women do it everyday and so can you.  It IS possible to finish your schooling and have a baby.  Good luck and keep us posted!

Hi there! Ambien is ok during pregnancy.  My dr prescribed me some during pregnancy.  Its not ideal but if u can stop taking it it would be better.  Some pain meds are fine too.  See an ob and get prenatal care and let them know the meds you are taking. Glad u are having a change of heart.  There are lots of resources for you and your little one.  Most areas have a Hope center or pregnancy center that will give you all kinds of info and help.  Best of luck to you! :)

Make sure to see your OB to make sure that everything is going well and that both you and baby are healthy. Also, it would be a good idea now to really sit down and look over your options. Look at the pros and cons for an abortion, for adoption, and for keeping the baby. You have said that you are not financially prepared at all and babies are extremely expensive and time consuming. It would be a major life change to keep the baby. If you don't feel that you want to have an abortion, adoption is another great option to look into which gives your baby to a loving family who is prepared for the child. You can do an open or closed adoption, depending on what you want. See your doctor, research your options, and then go from there. Hope it all goes well.

I agree with everyone else. Go see an OB! They will be able to tell you what kind of harm certain meds cause and if they dont cause any at all. I had my first ultrasound at 8 weeks! Good Luck hon!

No, they can start now! Some are done at 12 weeks and 20 aswell. But, for now they can check heartbeat, growth all the natural stuff.  :)

How soon can they run screenings and test though? I thought that was done at like 20 weeks?

Im not sure if the ambien would have affected the baby. I know of a few people who have had been prescibed sleep aids while they were pregnant, which were all presumed to be safe. youre best bet is, like Linzola said, go to an ob. They can run tests and screenings for most abnormalities to ensure if anything you had taken wouldve affected the baby or not

It's not to late honey!!!! Your best bet from here is to go see an ob and explain what all you have taken so that what you are on now can be switched to something ok in pregnancy. Start taking a prenatal vitamin. I love to hear your change of heart. A lot of women don't know they are pregnant and drink and do other things that are unhealthy for the baby and everything turns out ok. Keep me posted and congrats!!!
