I heard a heartbeat at 6 weeks 3 days with the ultrasound. I have a doppler at home and got a heartbeat around 8 1/2 weeks..

I like your answer to this post. I went to the doctor today and he says I'm 6w0d but couldn't detect a heartbeat yet. He did point out a tiny flicker on the screen but didn't say what it was. I was glad to see something moving though! He voiced no concerns at all and said everything looked fine. I go back in 2 weeks so I'm hoping to see the heartbeat then! I've heard many people say that they can see the heartbeat at 6 weeks so I'm a little scared. Anyways, your post was hopeful to me.

There are many variables in answering this questions.  It depends on how old the ultrasound machine is, how sensitive it is and how often it's "tuned up" .  The earliest you would be able to is probably around the 6th week. But even then some machines will pick it up and some won't.  It also depends on whether you are having a transvaginal or abdominal, the position of your uterus and even if you are thin or overweight.  With a dopplar you will probably not hear the heartbeat until around 10-12 weeks.

I saw my baby's HB at 7 weeks. Heard it at 10 weeks at my third prenatal visit with a doppler.

I was able to see my baby's heartbeat with a regular ultrasound at 6w3d and using the ultrasound machine (not doppler) we were able to hear the heartbeat at 11w3d and again with a doppler at 11w6d.

They can see it on ultrasound from 5-7 weeks pregnant, transvaginal only! Then with a dopplar between 10-12 weeks and with a stethescope between 22-25 weeks along.
