heartburn

No matter what I eat I get heartburn all the time. Tums and rolaids don't seem to help at all. Anything you suggest??? Also I heard that heartburn is a sign that your baby will be born with a full head of hair. Any truth in this? Btw ilm 15 weeks

This is my third pregnancy and I have never had a heartburn/indigestion problem till this time.  Mine started in my second trimester and I tried tums to start but it didn't help a darn thing, I killed a bottle in a week or two.  They put me on prevacid which worked really well till insurance decided I could only have 90 pills in 365 days :/ they then told me to try prevacid and pepcid but they did not work very well at all.  I had indigestion so bad with the acid I started vomitting and it would actually wake me up at night it was so bad.  It got to the point I couldnt eat anymore from the acid and vomitting.  They finally put me on protonix and now I'm doing doing much better again.  Any of those are safe to use...but ask your doctor.  The prevacid or protonix has worked best though.  It really *****!  I'm 34 weeks and I'm ready as soon as she is cause this is getting old! :/

I took papaya enzyme (supplement) before eating to stop heart burn. THey are chewable and actually taste good. You can find them at health food stores or on-line. It helped a lot but I just had to remember to take it before eating. My heartburn went away once the baby dropped. Good luck!

Oh, of course, ALWAYS discuss any medications you are thinking of taking with your doctor! But in Canada Motherrisk at Sick Kids Hospital says Zantac is safe to take.

I've had heartburn with all my pregnancies.!! Had it the worst with my second and she came out with tons of thick black hair!!lol..but my first and third were bald!!??..having problems this time too, I wake up in the middle of the nite miserable with it..a glass of milk sometimes helps..and I've had to really stock up on tums , but those leave a yucky aftertaste.:-(

My Dr told me to stay away from Zantac during my pregnancy. Something like that I would ask your Dr about as its individual basis.

I've heard its safe to take Zantac while pregnant. Also: google the acidity of foods. Certain foods will up your acid content meanwhile others are more alkaline and neutralizing. For example, I loved blueberries and ate them all the time not knowing they are acidic. Raspberries and strawberries are alkalizing so I started to eat them more. Good luck!

I literally got heartburn from tums and rolaids when I pregnant with my son!! Nothing helped and I had it my entire pregnancy. Oh, and he came out BALD! Its 2 and a half now and JUST had his first hair cut. He didn't even really need one lol. My OB told me gaviscon was safe but, it did nothing for me either.

This is very normal. heartburns normally go away after 3 months but some women's still experience til the 3rd trimester. Sit up after eat. don't lie down right away.
Idk about ur other questions never heard of it.
