heating pad?

Hey girls, im 36 weeks and my back is killllllllling,  i know there is not much i can do and that this is normal. The dr told me not to walk or have sex because im dialted. can i use a heating pad for my back? i do not want to speed up my labor but i need some relief...any ideas would be very much appreciated. The bath isnt helping much.

I am a very cold natured person and usually take a hot bath every night in winter just to warm up.  Since I like my baths TOO hot, I didn't take any while pregnant.  I DID, however, live with a heating pad in my recliner!  I had it on my back and used it daily!  It was the only thing that would help take the chill off!  

I'm sure you'll be fine, as long as you don't put it directly on your belly!  :)

A heating pad applied to sore muscles won't harm your baby because moderate heat applied to one area of your body won't raise your overall blood temperature. And there's no evidence that EMFs (electromagnetic fields) pose any danger to developing babies.

Yes, heating pads are safe unless you put it directly on your abdomen and it's very hot; then it can be as dangerous as sitting in a hot tub or sauna.
