help! how can you slow down labor?

So I've seen a lot of threads about women taking tea, having sex etc to speed up the birth day but I want the exact opposite! I'm going to be 36 weeks tomorrow (baby is 5.5lbs, was told she's probably going to be 7.5lbs when she's born) and my midwife told me yesterday after checking me that seems like the baby wants to come out sooner than her due date!( March 25). I'm still not ready for her to come yet (still have lots of stuff to get , etc and I want a spring baby too lol) so does anyone has any suggestion? I walk a lot almost everyday so I guess I should stop doing that....

btw im posting a 3d pic of my baby's face with her mouth in a kissy position lol! i just got it on Monday when I went to get my growth scan :-)

would babys due date maybe be sooner than expected? i would just recommend resting and avoiding anything that could possibly bring it on but if baby wants to come, they'll come

A whole lot of water, double what you think is alot of water...then double that, and a bath... unfortunately no sex, take plenty of naps. NO LONG TRIPS!

Well you can put yourself on a bedrest if you want but you don't have to. Definitely don't want a preemie or baby coming before they're ready if you can help it!!! Good head on your shoulders. You're going to be a fabulous mother!

Well since my libido is off since i got pregnant the no sex part will be fine for me but you'll have to tell my husband about it lol!

I agree with cocacolapanda...my daughter dropped and engaged at about 32 weeks, which was excruciating as time went on...and I dilated to 2.5cm at 36wks and then back to 1cm again at 39wks....and I delivered at exactly 40wks despite the fact that my cervix was thin and soft and completely ready for labor for weeks....I kept thinking I would never make it but I did, so don't stress too much.

I agree with the other ladies too no sex or walking lol. and put your feet up so that the baby's head isn't continuing to constantly engage and put pressure on your cervix, which can induce contractions from what I understand.

I'm not sure how to slow things down, but my baby "dropped" about a month before my due date, and I was 3cm dilated then too.  I ended up being two weeks late, and they had to induce because my little one didn't want to come out!

I'd say to just relax and try not to over do anything.  Sometimes people say things like sex and walking bring it on, try not to do as much of that stuff I guess.  Just rest and take it easy, lol!

Yeah this is my first. She said it cause she saw that the baby is already in position (has been like this for at least 2 weeks) and that she's "lowering" herself. I do feel the extra pressure down there, which makes things even scarier!

lol tarajanes you made me laugh! maybe if I stick like 5 tampons and sleep with my legs up lol!

Gosh I have no clue how to slow it down! You are to far along for progesterone an dther is no natural thing to slow it down. NO sex, no walking! But the thing is that when your body starts getting ready for labor it starts hrmones to tell the placenta and cervix to get ready. You can not stop that! Why does the dr thingk you will not last? They can be wrong you know! I have heard ob's say it will come this week at 35 weeks and the baby not come till after 40 weeks! You can dialate and undialate! most woman do not know this but even during labor it can and has happened! Usually when you are tense. Are you efacing or dialating, what station is the baby at? Is this your first? I hope you can hold off for your sake of not wanting to go yet but I had my first two at 36 and 35 weeks and they did great and came home in 24 hours. I say you just need to be ready no matter what my dear:)

They always say to have the bag packed and everything ready by 36 weeks so you can relax till the baby  comes.
