helppp...

I have a serious question,I'm quite concerned. I am currently 9 weeks pregnant and I am on 100mgs of methadone. I've been on it for over a year and have all 6 carries. I don't not want my child to be born withdrawling. I've asked my doctor to go down and weighn myself down until im basically off of it when the babie's born. The first breathss of my childss life should be filled with love and happiness, not pain and confusion. No child deserves that. My doctor will not let me weighn down. He says it could result in a miscarriage. I am just so torn up about this. I know I still have quite some time still, but I desperately need an alternative. please feel free to comment your thoughts/ opinions. Anything info is helpful

I will never be okay with the idea of my baby withdrawaling and in pain. I'm doing everything I can. I don't want to lose my baby. This is my first pregnancy, and I'm already nervous as it is. But thanks for the input ladies, it does put me at ease somewhat. I just wish my doctor would let me Weign down maybe 2mgs a week, but I'm sure he knows what he's doing. It's just not worth taking the chance annd risking a miscarriage

My mom was on methadone while pregnant with my brother. She was also 39 years old, which she said her age was more of a concern than the methadone. He stayed in the hospital for three weeks but other than that's he's a perfectly healthy almost 7 year old smart boy I hope that eases your mind some :)

If your on methadone and you ob knows that when the baby is born they will or at least should start it on methadone and ween it off because it will be used to it like you and they don't want baby to withdrawal. Its not ideal but its either have baby be born used to methadone and put on a dose itself and weened off then you stop taking it and possibly loose the baby. Hope everything works out for you :)
