You should rent the movie, "The Business of Being Born."  It is a documentary with Ricki Lake and it is all about home births.  I watched it but I'm not going to do the home birth thing myself.  I can see why some women would want to though.  Check it out...it is a little biased about home births as being the BETTER choice but nonetheless it was very informative!

I've always thought it sounded interesting. You can also find home birth videos on YouTube (usually pretty graphic). I think that so long as you have a midwife, go for it!!!

i def thought about a homebirth....and my 1st appt was actually with a midwife....msgorgeous is right, on discovery health, they have shows like the house of babies(a miami-based motherhood center with all midwives/nurses), and other shows relating to midwifery and home birth....part of the reason i backed down, is because i have stress induced asthma and don't think i can handle all that without pain meds lol, as midwives believe in all natural, no pain meds! oh and my medicaid wouldnt cover it hehe.....otherwise, i'd probably have tried it, but i know when it came to birth, i'd have ended up at a hospital haha!!!
