how early is too early to pump milk?
I'm having my first baby, & while I feel like I know just about as much as I can I have heard 2 separate sides of this.
Some say it can cause early labor if you pump before having the baby, others says it's fine & enjoyed having bottles ready to go already in the fridge those first few weeks so daddy could help feed while she got her sleep.
I would like to have milk already stored, but I don't want to jeopardize her health! So...any women out there that have pumped before you gave birth? Any one else asked a doctor yet?

Risks of pumping can send you into preterm labor.. then a whole added heap of a mess can pile up on you. Over production, clogged milk ducts, foremilk/hindmilk imbalance, too quick of a let down from mass production of milk can make it very hard for a baby to latch on because an engorged breast is not a newborns favorite to drink from since it gives the baby a poor latch... you don't want to miss out on your angel getting your first bits of colostrum, it's liquid gold/antibiotics to an infant newborn! Most breastfeeding consultants will advise you to not even begin pumping until your baby is 6 weeks old..after you have your baby, a BF cconsultant should go into your hospital room to help you with Bfing, latching your baby, and any questions you may have. After I had my son, I was constantly attending La Leche League meetings in my area to get help with BFing, because it can be really stressful at times. I got the hang of it, and only pump 4 times a day (I started pumping at 7 weeks, right before I went back to work), my milk stash is definitely built up, and my supply is leveled out. Trust me mama, your body and your breast know exactly what they'll need to do!

What I was told by a specialist is not to pump til after you deliver. They said the human body is amazing and once your placenta detached your breast know what the babies need. So say the baby comes at 24 weeks, the breast will produce what a baby at 24 weeks needs. They said your breast start preparing before baby gets here but a different hormone is released when baby is actually born. That is the hormone the baby needs. She said no matter how tempting it is, do not pump before baby arrives. Idk this is just what they told me
You should honestly wait. It really can send anybody into early labor, I wouldnt risk it bcuz you'll never have a guarantee that it wont happen to you or not.
I was thinking I'm the only person thinking of doing this. Lol I was also really curious about like "milk banks", they buy your breast milk for women who want to but can't. :) if I make enough I'd love to share! Is that weird?? 0.o

If it is your first and you pump prior to birth it can cause mastitis, which will not allow you to breastfeed for your first or any after. AFTER the birth of your first it does no harm bc your body is already producing real milk and not colostrum. Pre-birth is just colustrum anyway. My bfs sister got mastitis bc she wanted to prepump beford her first was born. She dis not listen to her doctors advice and she says she has missed out on so much she feels.

The colostrum that is produced immediately after Birth has antibodies that are released after the Placenta detached from your uterus.
It just seems like it would be an added level of Stress, if you are not producing the amount of milk that you "Hope" you would.

There's ladies on here telling me that it's not a good idea to pump before u give birth because it can cause u to not produce milk later after baby comes
Omg, I was just wondering about this the other day. I had never heard of it but I thought about it and then wondered if I was weird for wondering. Lol.
Ask your doctor. Woman breastfeed their children all the time while pregnant so it shouldn't be an issue.. however it will cause contractions! Now in some woman that can bring on labor but only if you body is ready. There is no 100% but you should be fine. I don't know if you will get much though
