You do not have to go into maternity, you can probably just go up a size and buy some sweats.  When I was pregnant with my first I went into maternity at about 5 months, my second i went into maternity at the end of my 1st trimester.  My 3rd pregnancy (that ended by 11 weeks), I was in maternity at 7 weeks!
Everyone is different

At around 16 weeks I started wearing maternity clothes. I was really bloated during the whole first trimester. Now at 5 months pregnant, I look like I am about 8 months. CrAzY!

lmao its true! my second time arounds now and i swear my clothes became unbearable around 2 months pregnant, i now amd 5 and a half and wearing maternity/sweat pants and big comfy t-shirts!
and i really dont care what im wearing at this point. I mean cmon we are pregnant and comfort is number one at this stage in the game! i dont like being huge but its for a good reason!
and i say this to all you cute skinny before preggo girls, because i had been overweight before getting pregnant and had just started shedding the pounds when i found out i was pregnant!
so i was overweight to start with.
but the deal is your pregnant, be comfortable, for yourself and the baby and remeber that you will most likely fit into your old hot jeans once its over!.... unless your hips widen out like some unlucky few, but its worth it for a child! and who doesnt love shopping for new clothes?

I didn't read all of the responses, but the more kids you have had, the sooner you start to show typically.  So, if this is not your first baby, you may start showing earlier than you have previously.  I've had 5 and with my last (she's 10 months old), I swear I started getting bloated when I was only like 6 weeks along.  It stunk, but that's how it happened for me.  But even if this is your first, all women are different.

Have a happy & healthy 9 months!!

I absoulutely couldn't fit it my pre prego clothes around 12 weeks...but with twins I'm sure that could be the reason.

I started wearing maternity clothes very early. I was around 10 or 11 weeks or something like that. I was very thin and pretty tall to begin with so the little bit of weight and bloating I had that early made everything I owned very uncomfortable to wear. I felt strange at first having to wear maternity clothes that early but honestly everyone is different. As you have read, some women not until much later and a few, like myself, had to wear them very early. For me it ended up being about comfort in the end. I felt awful enough being sick all the time in the beginning that I didn't need to add to it by being uncomfortable in my clothes. Some women are lucky enough to go through most of their pregnancy not wearing them like other posters mentioned. I was not one of those women!!!

Oh yeah like a lot of people said if you buy jeans like a size or two bigger that are low rise you should be able to wear them the whole pregnancy. Thats what I did! :)

I was 9 weeks when I started wearing maternity pants, mostly because of bloating and it being VERY uncomfortable to wear normal pants. They didn't fit well,so I'd just fold the waistband down.
Now I have almost all maternity pants (I'm stubbornly hanging on to 1 pair of prepreg pants) and mostly stretchy or maternity shirts.

Thats funny...I'm sitting here sulking in my p.j's because nothing fits me this morning..either that or it looks ridiculous and pop open / strangle me. I'm 19 weeks and I think it has begun! I look silly wearing maternity clothes now though because my bump is too small! Theres no happy medium! lol.

i am 22 weeks and i still wear my regular jeans unbuttoned.  i bought those belly bands that you put over top of your jeans so that you can wear them unbuttoned/unzipped.  it hides the fact that they are undone and also keeps your pants up.  be sure to get the ones that are just bands, not the ones with the button (i could never figure how to work them).  these bands have been a lifesaver!  i hate maternity pants so these bands have been great.  as far as tops, i wear a mix of my regular tops and some maternity tops.  i am finding that my regular tops are getting too short as my belly is starting to pouch out!

About a week ago (34 weeks) I had to buy some more jeans just in a bigger size (not maternity).  I bought some non-maternity shirts too, just in a bigger size than I would normally wear.  I will still be able to wear the clothes I bought after the baby, I will just have to wash and dry them.

I will be 7 months next monday and im still wearing my jeans. im not that big though and my tummy seems to be high. I guess it just depends on how you are carrying.

I bloated and then after the first trimester went back into my regular clothes and then started wearing maternity clothes around 6 months or so. But everyone is different... you might show early or you might even show later than that it just depends on your body. Until then if you go to the store look for like loose peasant tops... they leave you feeling more free... but they don't scream pregnant yet.
