BTW my OB sees me carrying my son when I am at his office and he never says anything. He did however say that I shouldn't carry more than 20 pounds, I think he knows there is no getting around carrying my son.
I am 36 weeks and I still carry my 2 year old around all the time. He is about 30 pounds. I try and carry him as little as possible but you gotta do what you gotta do.
IMO Lifting a kid is a little different than carrying 30 pounds of dead weight.
I still pick up my 36-lb four-year-old. However I probably shouldn't. It puts way too much strain on my belly.
The weight limit is 25-30 lbs.
Yeah, as long as you are having a normal and healthy pregnancy, and your doc hasn't put you on any restrictions, you should be fine to lift the baby until you have your new baby. I am constantly lifting my 2 and 4 year old daughters. It can't be helped. So, all should be fine :)
If you are having complications or it's painful to lift your child, then don't lift them up. But if everything is okay, there is no problem. I am just about 25 weeks and my son is 14 months and weighs 30 pounds. I still lift him...it's just getting uncomfortable the bigger my belly gets, but other than that, I'm okay doing it.
The only reason not to lift your baby is if your doctor tells you not to. I carry my 3 year old around and my 17mth old.
Weight restrictions are generally only placed on risky pregnancies and in those cases the doctor will give you a pound amount. Good luck!
