Well, Provera is synthetic progesterone and NOT safe in pregnancy. Your OB should have known that! Only natural progesterone is safe. Personally, after that, I would get another OB. I wouldn't trust that one after that. But it is your OB and you may feel differently and that is ok. I wish you luck.
I'm glad you figured it all out before it was too late! Time to find another DR.
Good luck with the pregnancy.
thank you so much that is awefull what happend to you daughter is she ok now tho and again thank you you helped me out so much
Definitely find another OBGYN. If you have a regular doctor they could refer you to an OBGYN.
Also I LOVE this website: ratemds (dot) com. Check it out! You can rate this doctor and find others in your area that have really good ratings.
I had an awful doctor that broke my daughters collarbone when she was born and who also caused (instead of helped prevent) a miscarriage in Nov. 08 so I definitely gave her some negative reviews.
well i contacted my pharmacist and he said i should not be taking that he thought he remembered that i was pregnant but he couldnt be sure and he thought why would an ob prescribe that to a pregnant lady to he filled it. left a message with the dr but nothing yet im very upset about this whole ordeal i misscarried a couple times and why would someone prescribe a medicine to regulate you period when your pregnant why would a dr want you to go thru that much pain someone you trust i just dont know what or who to trust dr wise now any advise
Oh my gosh that's crazy that they gave you that to take. I thought it was prednosone like you had said in your first post. Def call your dr in the morning and I would seek the advice of a second OB.
Good luck!
agian thank you so much i will be contacting to correct people tomorrow
No, I don't think one pill will do anything. It is consistently using medications that can cause problems in which permanent damage can be done. Definitely call a pharmacist (or if you have an insurance card with a nurse-line phone number) right now and speak with a professional about this. A pharmactist is most likely the most reliable source as medications are their specialty (most doctors only get a few hours on medications in school and have to use references often to make sure they prescribe the correct thing).
Most pharmacies have a pharmacist available 24/7 to answer your questions. Please call around and speak with one about it. They'll be able to reassure you that one pill will not kill or harm your unborn baby. And they'll be able to talk to you about why your doctor may have prescribed it.
thank you so much i will call her tomorrow i am very upset with her my b/f is very upset too he thinks we should find another dr without talking to her i took one pill today will that hurt the baby now i more scared what do i do and why would a obgyn for pregnant woman perscribe that to me knowing i pregnant omg
Okay- please do not take that medication. It is a birth control and is not intended for use in early pregnancy. Another name for this drug is Provera (popular birth control). It is a category X drug in pregnancy, meaning it can cause permanent damage to a developing embryo. I don't know how long it can stay in your system so that is probably why you cannot take it in early pregnancy.
Next, call the pharmacy and speak with a pharmacist. Let a professional explain to you why you should not be taking this drug while pregnant.
Third, tomorrow you should call your doctor and get some answers. If they are unsatisfactory you need to find another doctor.
She should have prescribed progesterone, not medroxyprogesterone!
medroxyprogesterone and it has .10 mg in every pill that i take 1 time a day
it has that name in the part of the medication name if you would do that that would be great all i got was the info on it i am not to computer savy on finding out about drugs
Could you grab the bottle and re-spell the name of the drug?
Well I know that when I took progesterone early in this pregnancy the label also said, "If pregnant, do not use". It's actually okay to take certain medications in early pregnancy, before the placenta has formed and they can be passed through the placenta to baby. The placenta forms around week 10-12.
Progesterone is the only medication I have heard of that is helpful in possibly preventing miscarriage. That's why I asked what this particular med was. Perhaps it is another name for progesterone? I'll go do some research.
its supose to help with possible misscarry she said there is no hard evidince that prove or dont prove that it will help stop a misscarridge she says a lot of her paitants use at as peace of mind but i have heard from my mom and a few of my friends that its helps the 1st 12 weeks of pregnancy it also says in the instructions it can help with neasuea
What is the medication for? In other words, what is it supposed to do or specifically treat?
well when i wipe its not from my rectal area its from my vagina i know cause i have checked multiple times and she said it was ok and only used for the 1st 12 weeks and she said its nothing to worry about but i am still worried plus it helped me with the nasea today normal it last all day and today was the 1st day i didnt have it i just hope i dont misscarry this one
I assume it's rectal bleeding by the way. If it is and it's only small amounts of blood I doubt that would cause a miscarriage.
You can always call your dr back and discuss taking a drug that is not recomended for the first trimester. Find out what the risks and benefits are before deciding to use it.
no not at all but i have had 2 miscarriages it all very scary we really want this baby the blood is a pale pink to maybe a pink to sometimes a oarngish brown i know it veries in color but we just dont want to get attach to this baby to loose it it almost killed our relationship last time i lost the baby the blood is there between 7am -9am when ever i go to the bathroom but its only one time in that time period its really weird and this has happend since sunday i really dont get it anyone who can help shead some light on this supject would be great
Do you have a lot of bleeding? I know in early pregnancy you get really constipated and so a little blood can be expected with that.
well if the doc.prescribed it i guess its okay. do more research online about it first. sometimes its good to have a sec opinion.good luck
