i always wash my hands a million times when im cooking or making a sandwich, etc... if you touch raw meat or cold deli meat, or even cheese thats not pasteurized, nything that could be contaminated, wash your hands before touching something else...it helps to put a bottle of germx in the kitchen..i go through a medium size bottle every week or two. :) although it will dry out your hands a lot so lotion up!!

Wash your hands after handling raw meat this way you don't have to worry about germs/bacteria getting spread around.  As long as you cook meat thoroughly, you should be fine.  Don't eat anything pink.
