really its' only a few more weeks until your u/s.  They normally don't do them until 12 -13 wks unless you are seeing a feritility dr or are a high risk case.   The next 2 weeks will honestly fly by! so try not to think about it.

If you only had one miscarriage then they will not do genetic testing or stitch your cervix. Your best bet is to ask for an elective ultrasound (which you would have to pay for out of pocket) it confront your doctor and state your concerns and beg for an ultrasound. It is actually extremely common to miscarry with a first pregnancy. I miscarried my first as well and found out I was pregnant again six weeks later. She is now four. When she was 2 I found out I was pregnant again and have another healthy 18 month old. Try not to worry (easier said then done I know) but I'm sure everything will be fine!

Make an appointment with a high risk Doctor. I lost 2 pregnancies at 19 weeks. By the 2 lost the noticed that I have what they call an "incompetent cervix". If you miscarried ask them what are the options for a cerclage ( a stitching of the cervix) this allows you to carry the baby full term. However you will be in bed rest and it should be done within the 12 weeks to the 16 week of pregnancy.

There isn't much you can do if they don't want to do an ultrasound. As long as you can get in for an appt and there is a heartbeat then that's all you can go by.
