What exactly is "loosing your mucus plug"? And how do you know

For sure it's different for every pregnancy because with my first it was sort of like when you have a heavy period and a blotch of blood comes and that's it and this time it's coming out in pieces more clear and red but you'll be able to tell for sure

That makes me feel better mine is like snotish/white i keep losing small chunks right now that are like whiteish and then when i wipe ill get globs of mucusy yellowish/clear idk its wierd but havent seen anything pink or bloody?

When my mucous plug fell out it happened during sex. And honestly it looked like a big thick glob of *** lol it was very thick and pure white. No other color

When my mucus plug came out it was not what I expected at all either, I was expecting a much thicker bout of blood but mine was just like period blood. I freaked out because I have never heard of a mucus plug being thin like period blood is. But my doctor assured me it was my plug and even fit me in that morning to check me and set my mind at ease. I was 4 days away from my due date at that point and ended up having contractions right after which turned into labor and the very next day I had my daughter. Your mucus plug can come out slowly over time, all at once, it can be a lot or a little, it can be thicker, thinner, bright red, blood tinged, pink, ect. It just depends on you and your body.

Hi there. Well, this was totally different than I had thought it would be.  (and probably different for every woman).  I expected to see something that looked like a plug.  LOL  I never had anything like that.  I had goo of different colors, pink, yellow, blood tinged (I know, so attractive) over the course of about a week and a half.  This was most likely my 'plug' slowly leaving me.
