my 5 yr old got electrocuted..not pregnancy related. jus need advice..

My 5 year old son stuck a metal sign to a plugged in cell phone charger about 3 or so hours ago. I was at work..it was my first day back.. nd my fiancee had him..well it shocked him. We don't know how long. The sign was complete metal. It burnt holes in it.. burnt my charger..burnt the plug in nd blew the breaker. He seemed fine. Jus sleepy. I got off work nd found out about this. Nd ever since I've been worried sick.. he was up playing when we went to my moms for dinner..but now he has a fever nd seems so so sleepy. But its late here nd passed his bedtime. I have looked up everything on electric shock nd nothing is telling me anything I need to know. He had no visible burns but keeps saying his little hand hurts where he was holding the sign.. he thenstarted complaining his side was hurting. If he was shocked bad enough to truly hurt him on the inside wouldn't he already be throwing up..or crying in pain? He wouldn't want to play right? Idk what to do. He seems ok..other than complaining about his hand nd his side nd now his fever. He likes to be babied when something happens so I keep thinking maybe he is wanting attention.. but then I think what if I'm missing something nd he is really hurting.. advice? Anyone been thru this?

I would take him to an ER or an Urgent Care... just to be on the safe side. Just because you can't see an injury, it doesn't mean it isn't there. I hope everything turns out OK.

The current that runs through one home outlet isn't horrible, his hand is probably sore, I've been shocked before by one. The jolt left the area sore... My twins stuck a little toy metal forklift  into an outfit, blew the outlet, its still burned, blew the breaker the entire house went black, the wall has burn damage as well and I freaked and took them to the doctor, they were 3 1/2 @ the time... they were fine

I done this a couple times when I was little. I was a curious kid who didn't learn I guess. The only thing they told my mom was to watch my pupils to make sure they weren't dialated more than they should be or not dialating at all. It's obvious when some one needs medial attention from a shock. It would knock them out if it was enough to hurt them.

I would call a doctor about it. My dad is an electrician and he was hit with 7000 v or something crazy and never had to go to a hospital, but everything.hes ever told us is.its not the volts, its the amps that kill. So I think I'd call a doctor, and ask advice, they should br anle to tell you if those sideefdects are common. When dad got hit, he could actually.touch our skin and itd make us tingle, but he never complained of  fever or pain. Side pain and fever can be linked to lots of other issues like appendicitis though, so I would defo keep an eye on that...getting shocked doesnt cause it, but it.could be coincidental timing. Just call a hospital or doctor and tell them whats happened they know best.

my mom touched the metal knob on our screen door a few months ago during a lightning storm and go electrocuted BADLY on the side of her body that touched the door. She went to the doctor and because it did something to the nerves in her body and now she has random pains on that side of her body. Make him a doctor's appointment, but it would alarm me if he has a fever.

I don't really know what advice to give but if you are worried, go see a doctor. His side probably hurts because that's where the electricity exited. I would think he would be fine though, other than a little soreness. I'm assuming any damage done would have been seen immediately, it shouldn't still be affecting him because its not still running through him. But I honestly don't know.

I would take him to get checked out just in case. Rather be safe than sorry.

umm. it sounds like there's was a lot of electricity running through that metal sign. i'd check his WHOLE body for any signs of electrocution. and if it were me, i'd probably make an emergency dr appt for tomorrow just to put my own mind at ease.
