natural birth or epidural?

I am very very confident in doing a natural birth. I don't want to have any drugs what so ever. I know that things may change once the time comes considering this is my first child and im only 24w 4d but I feel so confident. What are opinions for both sides? Which would you prefer? I have spoke to many women at my job and most say if they could redo it, they wouldn't get the drugs. If you have done it natural, what are some tips? Thanks :)

I had a quick labour with my daughter, I remember begging for am epidural but it was too late haha. Was so proud of myself for doing it naturally but that's only cos I had no choice :p they say labours are quicker with each pregnancy so it'll probably be the same for this.little one :)

Im a ftm and i wanted to do it natural. how im looking at it not i want to get an epidural because i want to enjoy the having her and not have to be in pain the entire time. I feel like if im in pain its going to make me and my husband more stressed out so thats why im choosing epidural.

I have had an epidural with both my first children and never had any complications. Had fast easy labors. My husband wants me to consider not getting one this time around. I'm not convinced lol but due to complications I think this will be my last little one so may consider it due to that fact.

i had an epidural but it wore off 4 times.they boosted it during labor, but not during pushing. i felt everything.
personally i prefer the epidural, but either way is fine. i dont think there is a risk to baby or mom one way or another.

Lol it's smart to keep your options open because none of us react to pain the same way

I have been always going back n forth in my head about this topic..ny friend who is a labor and delivery nurse said leave every option open and thats what I plan to do im not really worried about going into labor Im tryibg to stay calm for the baby so I dont stress him out but ya I believe right now I can do it all natual because thats how women hae been doing it for centuries before pain meds were introduced but if the pain does get unbearable then ya im going to have to give in lol

Its cool that they have those alternatives to an epidural or spinal block. I was with my little sis when she gave birth and she had an epidural. She was so chill and calm and when she felt pressure to push she was like alright lets get this baby outt meh! It was really neat to see her so composed when im a sweaty sailor-mouth. I, personally, do not want any drugs administered. The only thing they need to give me is oxygen if I absolutely need it. I think that this is the ultimate sacrifice I could give for my baby and no matter how bad it hurt I would do it a thousand times over.

^^ is what I plan on doing. The thought of a giant needle going through my back and a cathader really does not thrill me lol

With natural birth you can get fentenol thru you iv and it helps a ton with contractions but giving birth ehhh not so much so u can have relief until you crown so if its to hard on you to cope with contractions there's a step before getting the epidural

That's why I'm going to a new hospital and looking at the birthing center :) so I don't have to deal with that crap anymore

See im the type im going to rip the monitors off and tell them shes about to be in a minute so it doesn't matter.

Because the monitor things were sliding out of place. I'd have my hubby or my friend sit the bed up and they'd come runnin in an lay me back down I asked if I could get up they said no no! I literally could not move. Towards the end I said **** it and got into a crouching squat position and the hell nurses came back an made me lay down

Nooo they say laying on your back is the worse way to have a baby. Its better to squat because then you are more open. They better let me get up or I am cussing out the whole room. What were some of their excuses as to why you couldnt get up?

Yea doctors really put the pressure on to be medicated my doc asked me every time he came in if I wanted meds and when i said no he asked me what I was trying to prove. My husband Was like please just leave her alone. girl I said all kinds of stuff to my husband because I had back labor that came straight from hell and the nurses wouldn't let me sit up I had to lay flat and it hurt so bad I was telling him what a dbag he was for looking so comfortable and how dare he look so sexy when I'm over here looking like jaba the hut. It was an experience. I tried not to cuss too much but when it was over he was so wonderful to me. Even tho I tore him a new one!

Ashdub, that is funny lol the only people who will be in the room are my mom and husband.
Mrscookii, crazy thing is, I have 3 tattoos one on each wrist and one on my left back/shoulder blade/spine and each one didn't hurt, I love the feeling of tattoos. But I agree I like hearing both good and bad to better prepare myself.

LMAO ashdub. You have inspired me to use labor to just be a b**** to him because ill have an excuse. Even if im not in that much pain I might use labor as an excuse to get somethings off my chest. I think doctors try to pressure women because it makes their job easier.

Meagan05 how I see it is the best way to prepare for it is by getting all the good and bad about it but someone women would like to just say oh it wasnt that bad. Its bad but it doesn't last forever. Think of it like at tattoo some tattoos are extremely, painful but you still get it cause its gonna look nice and you really want it.  It hurts but its worth the pain and when they say push... You gotta push like you never pushed before lol

It's funny cuz when the contractions got really strong he was playing solitaire on his phone and I looked and my friend and said you might as well be my husband cuz that mother effer is playing on his Facebook while I'm having his baby! So now he calls her the "baby daddy" haha!
