Antibiotics are only for bacterial infections, you don't take them for viral infections, So you have to be more specific as to what kind of infection.

(sorry) vagina. This was causing me to have recurrent bv. I did not know it could cause miscarriage. And while I was being treated over & over, it kept coming back over & over. This is what caused my miscarriages. So to answer your question, YES, it could problems in future pregnancies if you contract it while your pregnant. BV does not cause problems getting pregnant. It does not cause infertility. It causes 2nd (not 1st) trimester miscarriages. It is very slow progressing and causes either placental inflammation or infection of the amniotic fluid. It usually causes a "missed" miscarriage. I hope that you are able to find what infection caused this. There are others such as the TORCH infections (toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, herpes) and they do not causes recurrent miscarriage because once you have them, you develop antibodies. Good luck, I hope I didn't scare you, I'm just trying to give you some helpful information. Take care & keep us posted.

Hello, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your losses and hopefully I can tell you my story and it might be of some help. First, do you know what kind of infection it was that caused this ? PLEASE DO NOT LET ANYONE TELL YOU THAT BACTERIAL VAGINOSIS DOES NOT CAUSE MISCARRIAGE ! It most certainly does. After 2 years and 2 late miscarriages, both at 18 weeks, I've finally found out the reasons for BOTH my losses were bacterial vaginosis. Now, you have to get to the bottom of why you got bv ? Yes, it can be caused by many different things and basically it is an overgrowth of bacteria. Usually gardnerella. You might ask how it caused both my miscarriages. Let me explain. For the past 4 years I have had one partner only. This is the father of both babies I've miscarried. After sex with him I've noticed I would very often get bv. I had gone to my doctor over 6 times in the past couple years complaining of bv. At the point that I noticed I'd get bv after sex with him, I asked my doctor If I could be "allergic" to his semen ? I felt silly, because I never heard of this before. She said "yes", it's not so much an allergy, but his semen may be too acidic or too alkaline and throwing off the ph balance of my

well I read that amoxicillin is used for bacterial infection such as bladder infections and bacterial infections.  There's something also called bacterial vaginosis which can cause a m/c or preterm birth, and infection in the amniotic fluid, which can cause a miscarriage.

This is from googling around this information and here is what I found:

If bacterial vaginosis causes complications of pregnancy, will it also cause difficulty conceiving or cause miscarriage?
No, it does not seem to cause difficulty getting pregnant. Yes, it is associated with an increased incidence of miscarriage. A recent study, Ralph SG, Rutherford AJ, Wilson JD: Influence of bacterial vaginosis on conception and miscarriage in the first trimester: cohort study.BMJ 1999 Jul 24;319(7204):220-3, showed a miscarriage rate of 31.6% in women with bacterial vaginosis compared with 18.5%, a normal background rate, in women with normal vaginal bacteria.

Do you know what kind of bacterial infection it was? The informaiton above is bacterial vaginosis...I dunno if that's what they diagnosed you with but in case it is, I hope that information helps.

if you don't mind, what kind of infection was it? I have had concerns of infections and it all depends on what the infection was.
