no amniotic fluid!

i went to the doctor to have an ultrasound at 35 weeks 6 days gestation and the tech asked me if my water broke because there was no amniotic fluid in my sac. come to find out, my water had broke 2 weeks before the ultrasound. my 2 obgyn's didn't catch it!!!! i was scheduled for a c-section the next month but the doctor had to take the baby the same day. i wanted to know what could have happened to the baby had the tech not noticed that my fluid level was sooo low. i had an exam and an ultrasound every week by my obgyn because the baby was in a breech position, but this one was scheduled because of my high blood pressure. how come they didn't notice? needless to say my son is 2 months old and healthy, very alert, and spoiled, lol... he stayed in the nicu for 4 days because his lungs were not fully developed, but he came home when i did. do i need to worry about anything in the future because of this, and can i sue their ***?

i told the obgyn that i felt moist all the time 2 weeks prior to me having that last ultrasound and she gave me a pelvic exam and told me my cervix was still closed, and said i was fine. same thing the following week when i reported it again. they were only concerned about my blood pressure and the position of the baby. when the tech noticed my fluid levels were low he called the head obgyn right away and told her. she asked me how come i didn't let her know about me being moist all the time, and i informed her that i did to the other obgyn. i was being treated by 2 obgyns. and that same obgyn that didn't notice that my water broke did my sons circumsision wrong! she circumsised the right side only, so now when he pee's it shoots out to the left, and theres still skin covering it.it has to be done all over again by a specialist. and they have the nerve to keep sending me a $1000 bill for it!!! on top of that she just signed the birth certificate last week!!!! i'm about to go insane.....

Im a little confused.  If no one noticed your water had broken two weeks ago how did they come to the conclusion that your water broke two weeks ago rather than say, the day before?

Only 1 in 10 women get the amniotic gush, the other 9 get the I'm constantly wet feeling when their water breaks. If you reported this wetness and they didn't check to see if it was amniotic fluid or just normal cervical discharge, it is possible that you may have a case on your hands. But, keep in mind, the doc can't do anything if he doesn't know something is wrong or off. To answer your question about your son, it could have ended very badly, that is fetal death. One of the reasons that most doctors offices will not let you go longer than 24-48 hours is risk of infection but there are other risks such as decreased fetal growth and labor and delivery complications. However, if caught before the baby becomes distressed, the amniotic fluid can be supplemented if needed so that baby can cook longer.

If the baby by all appearance seems to be fine I doubt that he would suddenly start having problems. The reason for amniotic fluid is to help the lungs develop and if he is breathing fine, healthy, and was checked out of the nicu after 4 days then I would say most like he'll be fine. In this case I dont think there is any reason to sue and if you did sue I doubt it would come to anything. If your water had a slow leak (doubt it completely ruptured because you would of noticed) its possible that the doctors didn't catch it right away. Its also possible that the leak was slow and then got worse maybe a couple of days before the last ultrasound. Its possible they thought you were a little low on fluid but not something to be completely concerned about since everyone's fluid level is different. You said that his lungs weren't fully developed at birth but that could be because he was born early as well.
