Wow. I just dont understand somethings in life. Children are a blessing. If u take pain meds the bab will and can get addicted. And if u dont tell ur dr. And the baby is born it will with draw. And the dr and u will have to watch it. Its just sad to even think that someone could take a risk of making there newborn dependant on meds. To ease with draw. And they test more then just the first poop. They send the imbilical cord and empty sack to have biopsy done. Trust me. I know.
I agree with the others. They WILL catch your use. Even if they haven't picked it up on a drug screen in your urine, most hospitals routinely test the baby's meconium (first poo) after delivery and if you test positive for drugs that your doctor didn't know about (and they'll pick up pretty much everything after about 10wks of pregnancy), there is a good chance that you will get into a LOT of trouble.
You must tell your doctor everything. Both so he can monitor you and the baby during and after delivery, and also because chances are he either already knows or will know soon...and you don't want that sort of surprise.
once your doctor knows, he will know what to look for in baby after birth to make sure he/she is safe and healthy, and you may be referred to a social worker but that would be the end of it most likely, along with some offered drug counseling (which I highly recommend you take...baby NEEDS you sober). However, if you do not "fess up" and the doc tests the meconium after birth....you could have your baby taken away.
So..this would be the time to step up and do the right thing, even if it's hard. Try not to worry...doc doesn't want ot take your baby away, he just wants both of you healthy, and he needs you to be honest with him for that to happen, OK? he is there to help you!
Don't kid yourself -- your doctor is supposed to check for signs of drug abuse. You don't want to end up in a situation where you're dealing with a social worker and the courts because you got caught using.
The best thing you can do is be totally honest with your doctor. You need to be sure the baby is all right, and if going cold turkey hasn't worked, you may need extra medical care.
If it is found in your system they will take the child away with no hesitation, but if you talk to them they will work with you. Your title says you're not addicted, yet you've taken them while pregnant. That indicates that you are or just do not care about your baby's well being. It is vital that you speak to your doctor about this and get it under control, not only for yourself but your baby. You need to be there for them in every way possible, and if you're drugged you can't be.
im afraid to say anything cuz i dont want them taking him or her
I would tell ur dr. Just in case so they can be sure all is well. Good luck.
