pap smears while pregnant

This is a stupid question, but I truly don't know.  Is it bad to get a pap while pregnant?

I HOPE I'm pregnant, but very well may not be, but I have my yearly pap on Friday.  Should I confirm pregnancy before then?  Not sure if a pap would be bad if I actually was pregnant.  Thanks!

Thanks for the responses.  I truly had no idea. Ha!  This is all speculation anyway. . . There is a good chance I won't get my BFP at all this month, but just in case, I wanted to be sure.  Thanks. :-D

In the beginning of pregnancy it's routine for them to perform a pap smear...it helps to rule out any issues that may adversly affect the pregnancy.  When you go for your pap they most like are going to check your urine as well.  If they don't you can request for them too...or ask if they can do a blood test to check for pregnancy.  As for the pap smear...it's perfectly ok.

No it's not bad...they actually will give you one when you are pregnant.  The first visit you get one.  Good luck, I hope you are.
