please help.

I'm stressed to no end about the possibility of being pregnant. It's not something I'm planning for at all, though I would choose to embrace it if I am. My last period was on the 24th of March and I generally have a 28 day cycle, though it can certainly vary for up to 31 days. The only time I could have conceived would have been between the 2nd and 4th of April, as that is the last time I saw my boyfriend. If my cycle followed the 28 day cycle, I should have ovulated around the 6th/7th, so the sperm would have had to live for at least a day or two. I noticed some light spotting this past sunday (Apr 18th) and again yesterday (the 20th.) My period should be due today or tomorrow and I am experiencing period like cramping. I took an answer early pregnancy test dector both Monday and today first thing in the morning, both came up negative without a doubt. IF i am pregnant, shouldn't there be enough hgc in my urine to account for it? I apologize that this is so long and truly appreciate ANY input you might have, thank you so much for reading.

After ovulation it can take 6-12 days for implantation to occur, and another 2-4 days for the HCG to be high enough to be detectable by a home pregnancy test. You ovulate about 14 days before your next period, so if you have a 28-31 day cycle you could have ovulated anywhere from day 14 to 17 of your cycle, and if you ovulated on day 17 and it took 12 days to implant and another 4 to show up on a pregnancy test than the earliest you could get a positive is 33 days after your last cycle, this is on the long end of it, if it went the short way and you ovulated on day 14 with the 28 day cycle and implantation happened on the 6th day after than the earliest you would get a positive is day 24 of you cycle. So depending on how many days it's been since your last cycle, and going by what you said the latest you'd be due to start is April 24 based on a 31 day cycle. If your period does not show by the 25th take another test. By then you should at least have a light positive if you are in fact pregnant.

Well it is possible that in the right kind of cervical mucus sperm can live up to 5 days.  So it is possible that you may be pregnant.  The spotting may just be your period starting but it may be implantation.  If it is implantation your levels may not be detectable yet.  I would say that you should give it at least 2-3 more days and take another test if your period has not started.  If that turns up negative you could take another one in another 2-3 days.  I would also call your doctor if they come up negative because he may want to do some blood work just to make sure.  But generally they don't do anything until you are a week late (at least where I live).  Your period may just be coming a little late.  Stress can make your period show up late which may be your case if you stressing about being pregnant.  Try to relax (I know it's easier said then done).  Good luck and I hope you get your answer soon.

It depends... Spotting could be the beginning of your period or implantation bleeding. Usually there is not enough hcg in your urine to show for 3-4 days after implantation. I think that if you are really concerned that you need to wait a few more days and take another pregnancy test if your period doesn't show.
