postpartum question(infant growth spurts)

Alright soo for the ladies who already have their newborns, i need some serious advice. . My little baby girl is going to be 3 wks tomorrow. . In my opinion i think she is experiencing her first growth spurt. . Maybe a couple times out of the day and night when she is feeding she'll get antsy and start fussing around the end of the feeding, but she still wants to keep drinking cause she wont let it go. . She seems like shes in pain at times, sometimes while shes feeding and sometimes while she sleeps. . /: i hurt to see her like this and im hoping it is just a growth spurt that will pass. . What do u ladies think?? When would be a good time to take her in if im not 100% sure its a growth spurt?

Definitely! You hit it right on the money! Exactly my thoughts about BF'ing and formula feeding! Thanks so much(: yes, her BM are the way you described(: ahh! Makes me feel so much better discussing this with woman who can relate to me and understand and are on the same boats with our babies! Such a relief. .  :D r u on FB???(:

Ohh I know! With my son I was planning on BF'ing and it didn't work out, I was so upset about it, that's why I posted about her acting this way in the BF'ing forum, I was worried she wasn't getting enough and that I would have to switch, which I'll do if it means she's getting what she should for food but I really want to BF since this is my last baby and last chance to do it. Don't beat yourself up about it, whatever is best for the baby and you is what's best, having a newborn should be a great experience and not adding stress to it that's unnecessary, you need to be able to enjoy your baby since this is the only chance you'll get! How are her BM's? My doctor said formula fed babies and BF babies usually have the same stool, the seedy yellow/orange stool.

Honestly, i was breastfeeding, i began to and did for the first week, strictly BF, my whole pregnancy that was my plan. . Unfortunately i had to stop BF as much as i didnt want to, i got really sad and felt guilty about stopping it but it really didnt work out for me :'( it was a hard decision for me to make. . . Now i am formula feeding my baby girl and im SO grateful that so far shes been responding well to it, i was soooo paranoid about the formula b/c i was SO about BF'ing but that was shattered for me and that was a hard pill to swallow :( but like i said, so far so good on the formula and little by little im learning to not beat myself up as much anymore about the BF, ya know? /: this is also another reason why as u can see i was SUPER concerned about the whole growth spurt thing and all that, i wanted to make sure that it wasnt a cause of the formula feeding u know? Her bowel movements are fine and shes hydrated so its good(: i even take pics of her bowel movements to show her pediatrician and the consultants at WIC so they can verify that her poopy is the way its supposed to be. . Hahah!

Thank you! :) I didn't realize how close our babies were! I thought pregnancy brain was bad, newborn brain is wayyy worse haha! Are you BF'ing? I was worried about this same thing, I actually just posted in the breastfeeding forum about this exact same behavior because my little girl is doing it too, and a couple said it sounds like a growth spurt.

Definitely sounds like a growth spurt and if you are breast feeding she may be cluster feeding to get your milk supply to grow for her to be getting enough milk.

Baby's usually have a growth spurt around 4 weeks so could be but my daughter is 9 weeks and does this alot since birth and she's got colic and reflux!! she acts like she wants more but its coz she's in pain she ***** for comfort, try winding her every few ounces she might want more but might have trapped wind making it uncomfortable to eat more!  Its usually nothing to worry about unless she's actually refusing feeds but if your really worried speak to ur doctor.

I'v never had a child but I'v been around new borns and they say that they get fussy sometimes because their internal organs are trying to get into place and it gives them a stomach ache. Maybe that's why?
