pregnancy with tubes cut and tied

Hi everyone,

I am asking this question for my room mate.  His ex-girlfriend called him last night to say she was pregnant with his baby but she had her tubes cut and tied about a year ago i think.  She has 2 children already, one of which is about only a little over a year old.  But the last time they had sex was back in November.  First off how common is it to get pregnant after tubal litigation and also wouldn't she have known sooner if the last time they had sex was in november?

She does have a lot of mental problems, so i am not sure if she is just saying it because he moved to another state after they broke up.  Or do you think it could be an eptopic pregnancy?

Also i am doing well with my pregnancy, i am anywhere between 7-8 weeks along and the all day morning sickness has kicked in, which i did not have my last pregnancy when i MC.

my mom had her tubes tied and she got pregnant...so it could happen

my friend had her tubes tied and she had her daughter 9 months later they didnt burn the ends so she ended up pregnant

wow, low and behold he just called me and said she got her AF.

I honestly think she was lying.  She didn't even test, she admitted today that she thought she was pregnant because she was having the same symptoms as her last pregnancy.  Wouldn't you go out and buy a cheap test?  This girl is a mess.

The only 100% protection against pregnancy is Abstinence. There is a slim chance she is. My sister that just went through massive weight loss was told that it is possible for her to get pregnant since the weight loss even though she had her tubes tied 13 years ago. All he can do is wait and ask for proof...

I am not sure about the cutting and tieing part, but I had my periods normally for 5 months when I was pregnant with my son and 2 months when I was pregnant with my daughter, so it does happen. From what I hear, it is rare, but I seem to be reading everywhere that is much more normal that thought of.

I've heard of it happening more more often now if she had her tubes cut and burned then I'd be skeptical but with just being tied then I'd say it's possible but her chances of an eptopic is very high....but it's possible not to know before now....some women continue having their periods even during pregnancy. My own mother for one didn't have a clue til she was almost 4 months with me.
