prenatal vitamins???

I'm 26 weeks today & I haven't really taken any prenatal vitamins in the last 3 months. Ima get bck on my prescription vitamins on Monday & take them daily until she's born. Am I too late for something serious in her health already???? I'm so scared that I've messed up :(

@lesley27 just saw your comment. Is cuz women think that by taking vitamins babies will come out healthy but that doesnt happen always because i have know womens who take vitamins all pregnancy without missing a day and babies will come out unhealthy like my sisters baby she wouldnt even miss a vitamin, so girls think that if they dont drink vitamins that baby will come out unhealthy. Any ways i do believe vitamins are good for your bodies but you dont always have to drink them every single day.

the prenatals I were prescribed made me EXTREMELY sick, I would throw up right after taking them. My ob said flintstones would work, taking 2 a day. the chewables didn't sit right with me either so now I take, 2 flintstone gummies a day. taste delicious ;p and it's better than no vitamins at all.

I don't think she means that the viatimins caused the complications, just that you can't only rely on them for the nutrients your body needs and maybe that woman thought that just by taking her viatimins and not watching her diet then she would have a healthy baby. We need both, not just viatimins. If your diet is good then you don't really NEED the viatimins but since there is two people to keep healthy and not just one, viatimins are good so that both have enough of what they need.

Are you saying these complications were caused because the woman took vitamins? Just to clarify what your saying with that last point...

With my first i never took vitamins because i couldnt even take water down i was always at the hospital with IVs for dehydration baby came out healthy no complications. With this pregnancy i just started taking them because i would get really sick with them but im now feeling better and i take them but not everyday. Ive known pregnant womens who would never missed a vitamin and there babies were born with complications.

I agree with Helenk38 listening to your body is most important when we are running low on something or we need something our body naturally goes on survival mode and you crave what you are needing

I took prenatals while I was pregnant with my son for 2 months and started getting sick and not able to keep my food down and my doctor told me that flintstone vitamins are a great alternative to prenatal vitamins...they have a good amount of folic acid in them as well as the prenatals

Thats a pretty good variety of food... better than what i was eating... or not eating! but you should get back on your vitamins for your body as well as fro baby... soon enough your body is gonna go through SO MUCH! and your gonna need all you can get :)

Okay, so I feel a lil better lol & with my job & my two 30 min breaks, I usually drink milk in the mornings & un sweet tea in the afternoon. Breakfast usually insists of biscuits & gravy, hashbrowns, & a sausage. Lunch of sometimes chicken or beef, a vegetable, & maybe mashed potatoes. & @ hme I eat strawberries, grapes, carrots, & every now & then a grilled chicken salad w/ toasted bread.

Stupid phone, sorry.
Anyway I was saying, I eat a lot of special K yogurt berry cereal and milk as in between snack.
And whenever I don't feel like eating I will have smoothies from Smoothies King, lot of vitmines in a drink. Of course it's full of sugar too do don't over do it. On top of that, listen to your body, craving is a sign of something is low in your body. At the beginning I was craving cases after cases of oranges so I guess my body need vitmines C.
If you even crave anything that is non food, let you doc know right away.
But like other say, as long as your diet is healthy. Prenatal is a personal choice.

I was taking store brand prenatal when I was TTC because a friend told me so and I figure it never hurt to have enough vitmines. Then when I got pregnant I start taking the sample from the doctor's office. Those were so strong that I finally got so gross out by them that my body refuse to swollow them, lol. So my doctor suggest that I switch to the gummie kind. They are a life saver I tell you. I pop a couple in after meal, like candies.
Still there were days when I just don't want to even look at them. So I make sure I eat a lot of fruit and veggie, lead meat to stay on a pretty healthy diet. That way I don't feel guilty on those day when I "forgot" to take them. I know it's hard to be on top of it. Just make sure your eating healthy, and you body need iron and calcium epecially now. You baby will take whatever he/she needs from you so you need to make sure you have enough to share. Like calcium, baby will pull them from your bone if needed one way or another, so drink up on milk. One of my favor snack is special K yorugt

Its a little late to second guess yourself and there isnt really a for sure answer...  honestly my prenatals made me sick too but i still took them...i had to take them at bedtime and if i had a snack around that time it made it better and majority of the time i kept them down... not all the time but enough... i cant really say too much basically i would have said to take folic acid and a regular daily vitamin if anything, there are other options... were you eating healthy balanced diet? basically i think your baby would have taken what it needs(and could take) from you but thats not good for you either... your body needs the extra vitamins just as much...
