preterm labor?

Since thursday night I have been having lightning sharp pains in my cervic and light period type cramping in my lower abdomen.

The pain in my cervic stops me in my tracks when I'm up moving around until it passes and then I'm fine for a few minutes.

I took a nap this afternoon and since waking up I have been having this cervic pain frequently. I'm just sitting on the couch with my feet up and it's beginning to be regular and frequent.

Is this a sign of labor or is it it normal for 33 weeks. I feel Kaelynn moving around alot. I'm wondering if it's just her settling down in position.  She was head down at my last ultrasound 2 weeks ago.

I was on my feet all day yesterday. I had some pain for a few hours at first but then they went away.

It was BF's Mom and Dad's 50th birthday. His dad turned 50 last month and his mom turned 50 yesterday. It was a huge party like 100 people all at there house. I didn't get a lot of time to sit down. By 11pm I had a bad headache and had to go home to bed.

I am doing good today I haven't had any pain but the bottom of my feet feel bruised. I'm just gonna wait till Thursday and mention it to my Dr and maybe he'll check my cervix.

Hey we are only a couple days apart from eachother...im right there with you. Im having sharp pains as well and alot of pressure. My doctor keeps tellin me I need to lay down with my feet up before I go into preterm labor. So maybe you need to do the same, even though I still havent been doing much of that! I hope you can relax and be comfortable. Are you having a hard time sleeping? I cant sleep for the life of me...eeerrrr! Kee me informed!

I have those when I'm not pregnant. I know it's crazy but I notice them with gas, or when I'm constipated and need to have a BM. (TMI, sorry!! haha)/ But it's the truth!! This doesn't sound like preterm labor. You usually will feel cramps, and lower back pain, both or either or. Keep your feet up and drink plenty of water. Or just call your OB and have him check you out! Good luck!

Sounds like the walking probably was in part to blame.  I notice that when I'm walking through a store or whatever it happens more often.  I would probably go ahead and call your OB and mention it.  Perhaps they could get you in just to make sure you aren't dialating already. Better safe than sorry.  It's probably just normal but I think it's a good idea to make sure.

Thursday I packed 2 large bins of baby stuff left them in the middle o the floor for BF to move once he got home but other than that I haven't done any packing and it's reay getting down to the wire I was planning on packing last night till this pain started.

I got up early and went to yard sales and the farmers market. Maybe it was all the walking around and the heat. I think it got up to 98 yesterday. I had sweat rolling down my legs! I was out for a total of 5 hours and my feet were swollen by the time I got home. I don't think that helped at all. i really wanted to go to yard sales again this morning but couldn't get out of bed.

Resting is a good idea.  If you have been doing a lot physically like packing stuff lately that could be contributing to what you are feeling.  The last week I have been frantically working to get my living room painted which has involved getting up and down the ladder and gettin down on the floor and scooting around.  I think this is a good part of why I've been feeling what I have.  I noticed that after slowing down some on Wednesday and Thursday (even with going grocery shopping) it let up some but after starting on the painting again yesterday it started back.

I haven't gotten much sleep the last two nights. I was in bed around 6pm last night. My back is killing me this morning! I haven't noticed any pain in my cervic in a few hours. I will call my Drs office if it continues today.

I hope that I will be fine today it's BFs moms 50th bday party. Suppose to be about 100 people there and BF actually took time off work which he never does. I'm going to try and relax as much as possible.

hey lady....it def sounds like you could be dialating....def def make sure you mention that to your ob at your next appt...if the pain is still there today please call your ob and make them aware...they may want to bring you in....you do not want to dialate too fast

having cramping in your uterus is a sign of pre term labor but it doesnt mean you are in preterm labor....i hope the pain subsided for you

i was having horrible pressure in my cervix yesterday....i woke up this morning and so far its been ok but im def not doing more than i have to today...

keep us posted...4 more weeks until you are considered full term :)

I have been having the exact same pains for the last week or so.  I've also been having more BH-some are painful some aren't.  I told my doc about it at my appt this past thursday and he said it's becuase the baby is descending and settling into position for birth.  (That doesn't mean labor is going to be anytime soon).  He did tell ME that he doesn't think I'm going to make it past mid to maybe late august even tho my due date is sept 10th.  BUT This is my 6th delivery so.  MY doc has said he wants me to start coming every week and he will begin cervical checks as of next week.

If I remember correctly I think your a little bit further along than I am.  (I'm 32 wks 1 day today) so it stands to reasons your baby could very well be in the process of dropping.  Some babies do it quickly and others do it slowly.  The extra pressure/weight plus babys movements right there on the cervix can cause sharp pains.

basically i think the only thing that saved me was tilting the bed...now it's just as sore as it was before the delivery, and I can't even THINK about touching it (I have to curve my arm away from my crotch when I wipe, sorry tmi LOL, because it's so tender) BUT...having the baby off of the area has increased the blood flow and I can feel it healing and getting better, it just FEELS like it's getting better, does that make sense? ...I think it's gonna take a very long while, unfortunately..and the tenderness still catches me by surprise and takes my breath if I forget (I don't think I'll be wearing stiff/tight jeans for awhile!) but I really think that the increased return of blood flow to the area is helping it to heal.

ohhh fair warning..when they start palpating your belly to make sure your uterus is shrinking and help it contract, mention your soreness because sometimes they'll just palpate straight down over your pubic bone and I shrieked like a banshee when one nurse did it to me because I didn't think she would push that low...it was AWFUL.

Yes I have Symphysis Pubic. That pain has gotten worse the last two days also. I can't wait to hear how your labor went with it.

Hmm I don't know I know that I had those pains from about 34wks on...but then I was already 5CM dilated by the time they induced me at 39wks so it may be dilating you...it was also apparently my bag of waters stripping itself and sinking into my cervix because they sagged out of my cervix and into my vagina before they even started the induction, lol.

and I think with my daughter I remember sharp pains when I started to dilate too...as long as you don't start getting intense pressure accompanying the pains I would say you should be okay as long as you stay off your feet if they get too strong...definitely ask your OB the next time you see him though. It's pretty normal but you should always keep an eye if you think you may be dilating, just remember that you can dilate early and not go into labor for weeks and weeks :).

Were you the one who had the problem with the painful pubic bone, or am I thinking of someone else? I wanted to update what happened with me as far as labor went with the inflamed pubic bone problem.
