protein in my urine

Hi I have recently found out im pregnant and im roughly around 12/14 wks? I havnt yet had my first scan! I went to the doctors to give a urine sample and my urine tested high levels of protein the doc said I could have an infection?  Iv foned this morning for my result and there negative is this normal to have protein in my urine as the doctor said it could affect my baby??

Thks guys u have put my mind at rest iv not had high blood pressure and keep drinking lots of water so im sure il be fine thks again xx

You typically don't get preeclamsia till later on in your pregnancy

Sounds like pre-eclampsia. Where you have high blood pressure and protein in your urine! Definitely try to get an ultrasound in ASAP,  after they tell you if you have it or not they will monitor you either weekly or bi-weekly! Good luck sweetie,  hope all goes well.

I have had high levels of protein in my urine my entire pregnancy. Im 34weeks now. I had preeclampsia with my first pregnancy but so far my bp is fine with this pregnancy. Not sure why i have protein in my urine either.

Iv asked the midwife about that and she said that u dnt get it till ur atleast 26/28 wks?

I'm pretty sure that's a symptom of preclampsia I'd look it up.
